Stayed here for two nights whilst attending a family wedding.

The rooms are smallish but clean and well decorated with complementary tea/coffee, TV and full en-suite facilities. There are no toiletries provided other than hand-wash but the towels are changed daily.

We dined here for one evening meal and Sunday lunch. The food was of a good standard, not fine dining but tasty and well presented. Value for money the bar food was about average price. The whole of the staff were cheerful and attentive and the bar has a good range of local and continental beers.

The overall experience was both welcoming and homely and so I would recommend the Inn to anyone looking to stay in this part of Cheshire.

We went to the George and Dragon some years ago and was impressed by the decor but didn't eat there. So as we were in the area we thought we would give it a go. We wished we hadn't. My French onion soup was nothing like any I've had before and the 2 bits of toast floating on top were in no way like the cheesy bread thing that should have been there. It was ok but really only half a bowlful.
The Club sandwich was really poor, done on sliced white bread with tasteless bacon and even more tasteless chicken. The lettuce was the most tasty thing there.

A new team has taken over following two years of uninspiring management and poor quality. They have rescued the reputation of this erstwhile excellent restaurant and it is now returning to the previous high standard.
Visited during the first week in which the restaurant re-opened
Well worth putting back on your places to eat at list

Out with the old and in with the new! The new management have taken control and things are on the up. The food was well cooked, very well presented and tasted divine. I had the lamb and my husband had the steak and ale pie. Both meals were tasty, accompanied with fresh veg and the real chips were just like mum used to make. Nothing pre-packed or oven ready about these meals. The staff were friendly and chatty and eager to please and it was nice to see local families using what should be a good village amenity. I hope this lovely village pub succeeds, it deserves to.

A bit dissapointed with the George, this time. I believe its in the middle of a management take over and the new managers are temp until they find someone who wants the lease, the service was fine and staff very friendly and attentative, however there is a very good saying that a workman is only as good as his tools, and this is obviously missing a major part, this being a quality chef!

The food is a million miles away from what it was 12 months ago, it is still very expensive but the produce is not of the same quality, the Chips are frozen oven chips deep fried, the onion rings are the same, the veg is frozen, the potatoes are instant and the meat was very over done.

The deserts were also dissapointing they reminded me of the frozen cakes ect that you buy in a supermarket and defrost, I have nothing against these deserts so do not think i am being stuck up, i just dont like being charged a lot of money for something that is dressed up to be something it isnt.

they are charging high end prices for generic, poor quality food, If they want to serve cheap food they should at least adjust the price accordingly instead of charging the same prices as 12 months ago when they were serving high end home cooked produce.

like i said the staff and managers were all fine but food was a major let down
