I got back yesterday after a two night walking holiday.
The location is perfect. There are some really nice restaurants and bars nearby all within walking distance. I ate at:
The Limestone - Friendly French cuisine, Nice food. A little bit pricey but worth it. Good service.
The Cove inn - Informal dining serving nice food. My personal favourite
Weld Arms (two miles from The Old Barn) - Informal dining. Nice cosy pub near Lulworth Castle.
The Castle inn - Pub grub. Lots of real ale and ciders. Very informal. Dog friendly. A bit rough around the edges.
Some fantastic coastal walks a re within easy access (fossil forest, Durdle door etc).
I stayed in the family room with my wife and 14 year old daughter. This is small but very adequate. This is split in a a small double with a fridge. another room with two singles. A bathroom with shower. Both rooms had tea making facilities. Both were spotlessly clean. Both had small flat screen tvs. I felt more like a small apartment than a family run b and b.
The owners put on a top breakfast. They were friendly and greeted us one particularly rainy afternoon by collecting our rain drenched coats to dry to be returned in the morning fully aired.
I loved it and will retrun.

Room Tip: Choose the family room if you are a family of four.

What a lovely place! We stayed two nights at the old barn and were welcomed like family. Great location - easy to explore locally on foot. The room was very comfortable and - the breakfast was great - something for everyone. But the main thing was how friendly and warm the hospitality was. Nothing was too much trouble - good tips and advice on what to do around the area.

This is a gorgeous property in a gorgeous setting. Our room was spacious and well-equipped woth a great view of a old church in a field. Unfortunately we had issues with our shower. The "on demand" hot water unit switched erratically between too cold to bear and scalding hot. Breakfast was outstanding with lots of delicious fresh berries and melon and plenty of choices for the hot portion.

I recently stay at the Old Barn with some friends as we were in Lulworth for a friends wedding. As soon as we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Sarah & her family went above & beyond to look after us. On our 1st breakfast I noticed some gluten free cornflakes with the cereal collection, I made a little comment about them as I'm a coeliac. The next morning to my pleasant surprise I was greeted with Gluten Free goodies & toast! Not an easy feat in the picturesque Dorset Coast. It is this dedication that will make your stay fantastic. I'll would highly reccomend.

Room Tip: I was sharing a room with 2 friends so they suggested the family room, great idea!

My husband was tasked with finding the perfect place to stay for my 40th. However there was a catch, not only did it have to be child friendly, it had to be basset hound friendly too, and my did the husband do well. The B&B was beautifully presented and extremely clean. We had a fantastic welcome from Sarah, who was just as keen to meet the dogs, which always rates high in our book! Sarah and her family could not have done more during our stay, they provided birthday cakes, hound sitting and child entertainment! There breakfast is the best we have had in a B&B/hotel by far and is worth the stay alone. Extremely reasonably priced. Can't recommend it more highly. We will definitely be going back! Thank you Sarah and family for helping to make it a very special weekend. Lisa, Steve, Abbie, as well as Dave and Ronnie the hounds! Love to Poppy and Bertie!

Room Tip: We stayed in the family room which had an ideal layout.

Very spacious and comfortable rooms, with all comfort you could think of. Very well cared for breakfast with an eye for detail, and lots of choice.
Ideally situated just a few minutes from Lulworth Cove, and easy access to Durdle Door and the wonderful Dorset coast, this is an absolute treasure: friendly, welcoming, comfortable and hospitable. Lovely people who can't do enough to make your stay as perfect as can be.
The Old Barn is an excellent B&B, it offers great value for money, and is run with great loving care and an immense passion.
Heartily recommended!
