Had a friend visiting from London and had a great Sunday lunch in the garden at the Three Tuns. Great place to chill out on a Sunday and enjoy good food and wine in the garden

Good looking thatched pub but menu disappointed . Prices were high for pub food and the burger was small came with pot of chips which were hard not nice and a few frozen peas and inadequate garnish £10.95 ! . Sausage and mash also £10.95 was poor two very spicy sausages very little mash but huge pile of cold onion and small dish of veg . Used to like eating there but gone down in my opinion not good value.

During our first visit to the New Forest and having experienced some disappointing meals, we turned to trip advisor for inspiration - The Three Tuns wasn't too far from us and had good reviews so we decided to head straight there. It was very busy for a Wednesday evening, we were lucky enough to get a table without reservation and were grateful of the overflow parking. Although busy, the staff were attentive and very friendly. The food choice and quality was excellent, I particularly enjoyed the "electric daisy" with my dessert. Setting was lovely, plenty of outdoor seating available for a warm, sunny evening.

A couple of years ago we used to be regular visitors to the area and always enjoyed eating at this pub so when we made a trip to the New Forest today it was our first choice for an evening meal. The experience was totally disappointing. The dessert menu looked good so we decided to go for main course and dessert rather than a starter. We ordered the burger and shepherds pie, the burger was cooked okay but the bacon was all fatty and the cheese seemed to be a processed slice that had fused with the warm pineapple which made it look less than appetising....more akin to a burger bar offering. The pie was served in a small le creuset style dish that may just have been acceptable as a starter portion, the meat was bland and I would not be surprised if it had been microwaved rather than properly oven cooked as it tasted like a typical "ping meal" from the corner shop, the peas were hard and the strips of baby sweetcorn were tinged with brown so they were not eaten at all. No one came to check if everything was okay with the meal and we decided to skip dessert and coffee and just pay the bill. The guy behind the bar was having difficulty with the till and said he had had trouble all day with it but when he finally got it to work and took payment he never asked if everything was okay with the meal.......perhaps they are afraid of getting a truthful reply.
