“Don't bother”
Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

Arrived at the pub and first impression was ok. The host was very welcoming and thought this was going o be a good stay..........WRONG the Room I was staying in was dirty, cramped and dark. The bathroom was disgusting and the carpet minging, in fact I just could not bare to walk on it with my socks on. It's a shame I have to give negative feedback, as the landlord was a nice bloke, but he needs to invest money. The room would not have looked out of place as a 70s porn set.

we stayed in the Champagne and Shoes room on the night of my birthday and had the most amazing time. We arrived to a warm welcome by the staff. The room was beautiful, we made full use of the jacuzzi bath! The only thing that was a little dissapointing was that the free bottle of champagne was not Veuve Cliquot, which i expected as the room is called the Veuve Cliqout room, however the champagne probvided was drinkable.
We ate in the restaurant, again the sevice was brilliant and the food was to die for! We spent little time in the bar area as we had such a lovely room but the bar was warm and welcoming and i can imagine has a lovely atmosphere on a busier night.
All in all was very impressed, i had worried about some negative reviews i had seen prior to going but i can honestly say the people who wrote those must have been in a bad mood!!! FABULOUS!

Room Tip: All the rooms looked amazing, after staying in the champagne and shoes suite i wouldnt want to settl...

My husband and I had a night here last weekend - we started with a lovely lunch which was delicious. Our room was comfortable and entirely suited to a romantic weekend.
The champagne, chocolates and jacuzzi combination was sublime
.The restaurant was quirky and fun - the menu was varied and the food was beautifully presented and again delicious !
We will definitely be back for another stay !
Only one small issue - the external lighting could be better to ensure a safe return to the rooms.

This is definitely one of the most unusual places we've stayed, but well worth a visit. My advice would be to ignore the bad reviews and just have a good look at the website - as the saying goes 'it does what it says on the tin'! If you want a cosy, family friendly, traditional english hotel then you'd best keep your distance, but if you want a fun, different, perhaps naughty weekend away then go for it! The rooms could be accused of being a little bit 'tart's boudoir' but lets face it, there's naught wrong with that if you're away for a bit of romance! Most rooms also come with a half or full bottle of champagne - which is nice!

We had the Pommery room, which was decorated very well and had a large cosy bed and bath in the room, with a wet room shower and loo. It was a little dark in there, but I think it worked with the decor. My only negative point was the exit light over the door, which glowed green all night - I'm all for safety but is this really necessary?!

Room was very warm and there was plenty of hot water - important factors!

We had dinner in the restaurant on a Sunday and I would definitely recommend the roast! Service was swift and friendly and food was all delicious and though looking at the menu, I did think some things looked a little pricey, the quality of the meals we ordered was very good, so I would hope the more expensive things would be worth it too...

The bar felt a little bit 'local' - you know when you walk in and you feel like you have 'stranger' written on your forehead! But, good selection of drinks to help you feel more relaxed. Decor in bar and restaurant is similar to the rooms, so not to everyones taste, but they wanted a certain theme and they've gone for it and good for them I say! It was quirky and fun and though it is kind of tacky, it's done really well (if that even makes sense).

We had breakfast at 10am, which was great as I don't enjoy getting up early when I'm on my hols! Full english with tea and juice, all very nice and not too long a wait.

All in all, a good experience :o)

I loved the quirky, funky who'd a thought it. We were surprised and delighted on arrival. It was just up our street and what we needed on our rare night away without the kids. The staff are fantastic, really hospitable and lovely people. The room was great and the jacuzzi was perfect. We ate at the bar in the day and had dinner in the restaurant in the evening, the food was out of this world. The whole concept is very clever, we were well impressed and will definitely be returning.

As the title suggests, our experience was none other than excellent. We had been recommended a visit to this establishment by a friend, and after locating the venue we parked with some apprehension as it was so secluded we thought we'd arrived at somebody's home. In some ways this was appropriate as the greeting was warm and friendly and very helpful. We were shown around then taken to our room. The brochure does not do the experience justice! We are already planning our next visit, this time to extend to a whole weekend. More than highly recommended. Somethingbforvevery everyone of all tastes.
