We stayed at the Dungarvin Creek Bed & Breakfast for our annual artists retreat. Had planned on painting outdoors in the beautiful, dramatic foothills of the Rockies, where this large comfortable lodging faces a ridge of craggy mountains. Unfortunately it started snowing and blowing on our first morning there. Didn't matter, our host, Eileen allowed us to turn her great room (comfortable leather couches, fireplace, big windows...) into a studio. She went way above and beyond what we had paid for... she served us hot lunches, and coffee/tea breaks with cookies, fruit and goodies. We will most certainly return...and not just for another retreat, but I'll take my husband there for a stay.
And did I mention the great Mexican restaurant a couple of miles away!!

We spent two nights during a tour of Glacier National Park in Montana & the Canadian Rockies and thoroughly recommend Dungarvan Creek Bed & Breakfast. We had originally intended to stay in the Waterton NP townsite but after finding high prices for both accomodation & meals we decided to check out local B&Bs. We're certainly glad we did.
This B&B is located on a beautiful stretch of highway just north of Waterton Lakes NP and commands panoramic views of the mountains. On arrival we were welcomed by our host, Eileen, and her husband Bruce, who introduced us to their large modern log home. Eileen offered us her recommendations for sightseeing, hiking & picnicing in the area and then we settled down in our room, which was one of two in the main house. They also have two cabins available on the property. The room, with it's ensuite bathroom, was clean, quiet & comfortable, with good views of the surrounding countryside. Our breakfast made for a great start to the day with a wonderful choice of delicious hot & cold items. Eileen can also prepare picnic lunches for those heading for the trails or a day on the road. After a day in Waterton Lakes NP, including a wonderful lake cruise, we had a good steak dinner at the Twin Butte General Store which also serves as a post office, bar & restaurant.
Dungarvan Creek B&B isn't in the Waterton townsite but is well worth the ten minute drive north along Highway 6. It's a beautiful log home offering great comfort & hospitality in a wonderful setting, and the money you save, when compared to those motels in the townsite, can pay for your dinner at the Twin Butte General Store.

Dungarvan Creek B&B

We spent two weeks in southern Alberta visiting national parks -- Banff & Jasper & Waterton Lakes. We spent three nights at Dungarvan Creek B&B. We loved it! Here is where the prairie meets the mountains, and the effect is magnificent. Great view, spacious, clean, quiet, delicious breakfasts. Eileen and Bruce are wonderful hosts, and the hospitality and services they provide could not be improved! The location, just minutes from the park, provided a great get-away from tourist scene. Eileen is very helpful with suggestions on what to see and do in the area. Bruce has an unbelievable collection of antique radios. Our first night there, we went outside to view the Perseid meteor shower. Eileen & Bruce provided chairs, and we sat round exclaiming at the meteors and the wonderful night sky unobstructed by artificial lights. Early mornings and evenings we saw deer and moose crossing the property. Nice views of birds at the pond. In the evenings, the fireplace provides a cozy setting. Eileen brought out cheese and crackers to go along with the bottle of wine we brought with us. When we contacted Eileen, she was unable to accommodate us for the entire length of our stay in the area. She found another B&B for us in the area and helped set up the reservation for us. What service!

The Dungarvan Creek B&B was my favorite B&B in our 2 week trip to southern Alberta. We stayed 2 nights in an original cabin that has recently been remodeled and got to meet a woman who grew up in the area and told us about her brother who had raised his 6 children in the cabin. The B&B is set in the prairie about 10 minutes north of Waterton Park and has a view of the mountains that is beyond beautiful. Eileen and Bruce were wonderful hosts. We were invited to join a neighborhood musical gathering that had unbelievable talent. The breakfasts were wonderful and reflect Eileen’s life in England. The B&B is a little farther to drive to Waterton but the peace and quiet was well worth it.

We stayed here for 3 nights and would highly recommend this B @ B. The 2 rooms in the house were taken so we reserved the outside cabin which was very clean and comfortable and sleeps up to 6 people. Eileen, the owner, started us out each day with a fabulous breakfast which gave us great energy for our daily hiking. She also seemed able to accomodate special dietary needs. Her husband Bruce has a room filled with all kinds of antique radios downstairs which is quite interesting. They have a beautiful property with great view of the mountains.

The location is outside of the park but if you don't mind the 10-15 minute drive to the entrance of Glacier Park it is a great place to stay. There is a General Store near the B @ B which serves terrific food at reasonable prices. Eileen gave us some great tips of what to do and where to go while we were there. Would definitely recommend this B @ B.
