“Superb B&B Accommodation and Breakfast”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

Absolutely superb place to stay whilst visiting Waterton area. Similar to other places in the Rockies, being right in the hub can pretty busy. This is a short drive out of Waterton itself but still in a spectacular location and setting. Accommodation was perfect for a small family (We stayed in cabin) and breakfast is top notch and just what you need to start the day. Absolutely would return

This was definitely the best bed and breakfast stay that I have ever had! I traveled with my husband and 25 year old daughter. We all loved it here. Eileen is a wonderful host and truly makes you feel at home. The setting couldn't be more perfect or peaceful. The view from the front porch of the main house is as lovely as anything in Waterton Lakes National Park! We stayed in the country cabin which has two bedrooms with one bath. It had a small fridge and microwave. It was unseasonably warm during our stay(97 degrees F), so we cut our day visit to Waterton Lakes short. When we returned to our cabin around 3 pm it was cool (even with no A/C) because with the windows open it had great ventilation! Eileen made delicious breakfasts with eggs, meat, fruit, yogurt and cereal. My vegetarian daughter was well accommodated. We took several walks on the property and saw a few deer. We heard elk during one walk. I am so glad that we spent two nights here instead of the one night I originally wanted, because this was one of my favorite accommodations during this two week vacation. If you are visiting Glacier National Park, you should definitely take time to visit Waterton Lakes and stay at Dungarvan Creek! P.S. Akamina Parkway to Cameron Lake was closed due to recent flooding so there was not as much to do at Waterton Lakes as there normally is, but it is still worth visiting.

We stayed one night n the farthest cabin which is still only 50 yards from the main house. It had two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The main bedroom has Queen bed and an attached little kitchenette with a sitting area while the other room has two smaller beds. The place was clean and spacious for a family of four. the place was about ten minutes from Waterton and easy to find. The breakfast in the main house was a mixture of foods from cereal to fresh fruit (oranges cantaloupe and cherries) to hashbrowns and beans and toast with a variety of toppings. Also fresh juice and coffee and tea of course. The hostess was friendly and talkative as we visited with her. We enjoyed it and the short bit of time we had to look at the antique collection of phonographs which was very impressive as well. We had a view of the mountains for breakfast. I enjoyed it enough that I may book the place in the fall for a staff outing.

Room Tip: cabin is great for two bedrooms if you have kids

Most importantly, Eileen is a wonderful host! They offer several options for renting, and although we tried to rent a room (in their house), they were booked and we ended up renting the country cabin. The cabin is nicel decorated, and the 4 pictures on their website show the cabin clearly. The main room is quite large and contains a table/chairs, sitting area, and a queen bed. Attached to this room is a bathroom w/ shower, and on the other side of this is a narrow room containing 2 twin beds. The setting of their place is quite beautiful, and the location is quite close to Waterton. A cooked breakfast was served in their house in a large kitchen with the other renters and was English style (tea/coffee, fruit, eggs, meat, tomatoes, toasts/jellies, etc). Although we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend staying at Dungarvan, I would consider staying in the main house. The country cabin beds and pillows could have been nicer (one of the twin beds was very hard and the pillows were rather thin), the water was noticeably hard, and the floors are cement (although they had throw rugs). The main house was absolutely beautiful, and I imagine we would have been happier there. Also, the town of Waterton is quite nice for walking around, and I think I would also consider staying in town.

Eileen R, Owner at Dungarvan Creek Bed & Breakfast, responded to this review, December 31, 2012
I am glad you enjoyed our hospitality and appreciate your feedback about the cabin.
The cabin is designed to be "rustic" with pine walls and ceilings and a concrete floor stamped to look like wide oak planking. The floor is thus very durable as it is in constant use by families and small groups and those guests travelling with pets but there are large area rugs to provide comfort and colour.
Pillows are replaced at the start of every season and mattresses on a regular basis. I find that firm mattresses are usually preferable to softer ones and those on the twin beds may seem even firmer because the bed frames have wooden under boards.
Dungarvan Creek B&B has different types of accommodation to suit the varying needs of guests from bedrooms with private bathrooms in the main house to the family and pet friendly cabin to self-catering Dungarvan Cottage. It is advisable to book early to secure the accommodation you prefer in this popular area of Waterton National Lakes Park.

I stayed with my wife, young son (15mths) and parents in the cabin at Dungarvan. We all absolutely loved the cabin and everything it offered, it is much bigger than the pictures appear, we had ample room for the five of us which was perfect. The location is amazing, being only a 10min drive from Waterton National Park. Eileen was a great host, cooking us up amazing breakfasts every day and offering a wealth of local knowledge. Definitely somewhere recommended.

We loved this place. We state
Yes in the cottage. It was luxery unless you need TV. As others have said Eileen and Bruce are great and the radio collection is amazing. One new thing . On a rainy day Eileen recommended Head Smashed In museum and the Remington museum. Both are well worth a drive out of the way.

Expert advice, superb breakfasts and the feeling that Eileen and Bruce were concerned that everyone was included and enjoying themselves are the hallmarks of this outstanding B&B.

Beautiful rooms with opportunities to see local birds and wildlife are complimented by spotless bathrooms.

My gluten allergy meant that I was provided with more food rather than less - breakfast included a wide variety of fruit as well as a full cooked breakfast and toast or waffles. Eileen facilitated conversation and then withdrew when guests began to chat freely..

Simply excellent and would certainly visit again!

Room Tip: Just take any. All excellent!
