“Pleasant but brief respite from the heat”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

This plaza was a pleasant, brief stop for me to gather my thoughts after having a look at the various excellent historic homes in Silay City along with its impressive Catholic Pro-Cathedral.

As with the previous TA reviewer, there wasn't anything of note happening mid afternoon during siesta time, but at night it could be a lot more vibrant.

Silay City is less than 15 kilometres from Bacolod City and well worth visiting.

“Silay city public plaza”
Reviewed August 2, 2013

It's clean and have lots of trees where one can rest, it can easily be visited if one can have easy quick stroll to the plaza since taxis going to airport is just in the corner of public plaza and the fare is P50.00 but need to wait for more passengers but no worries in getting late for your flight because the drivers know the schedule of flight. One of the best is its location just a 2 minutes walk is the SAN Diego Parish cathedral, all need to do is just cross the street.

Another 5 minute walk is the Balay Negrense which is an Old Spanish house. And also the El Ideal is one of the old and best native delicacies in Silay is just 1 minute walk from plaza as well.

One can buy lots of pasalubong there since it offered a lot of variety native foods and taste is soooo Great!!!!

“An ok palce to rest a while”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

After Balay Negrense, we were pretty tired. So we decided to plop down in the Silay Public plaza. En route, we saw the beautiful Silay North Public school (now being renovated) - it looked real heritage - yellow and brown in colour, 2 storeys high, high ceilings, tall wooden windows.

We arrived at the Public plaza and it was bloody hot! So hot that I stared in a daze, mesmerized by a mango shake stall. A pity the owner was absent.

Closeby there were two stalls with smiling ladies selling buko juice. I rejoiced.

Well - just for a moment. Once I had 2 sips of the so called buko juice, I realised that they were 10% buko, 40% water and 50% some unspeakable concoction of chemicals, sweeteners and laxative! I managed to down half the glass, and could take no more!

The public plaza itself is a nice place to relax. I am sure it is more happening in the evening, but at 3 pm, there were just some kids playing and a cat snoozing!

More details of the heritage structures and houses in Silay, including lots of photos, can be found in the Silay Heritage Blog - http://heritagesilay.blogspot.com - No admission fee for reading this blog! he he!
