Our second visit since the new management took over. The first was a bit of a disaster. Kitchen couldn't keep up with the orders so a very long wait for the mains. And a couple of cock ups on the bill. But staff were very apologetic. And the food was good enough to draw us back for another go. A nice quiet early lunch before the service got too frantic. The food and service were once again excellent. Nice people serving a really excellent simple menu. But still a long wait between courses as the tiny kitchen scrabbled to keep up. Two tips:
1. Order anything on the menu - it's all good. Very good.
2. Be prepared for a long wait.
That said - we've already booked another meal there.

We stayed at the Unicorn Inn on Saturday whilst visiting friends in the area who had recommended the pub to us after the change in management. Our stay was fantastic; on arrival we were warmly greeted and shown to our room which had a great view overlooking the market square and church. The bathroom was a good size and the shower fantastic – very powerful! We stopped off for a quick drink at the bar before heading off for the day, both bar staff and locals were very friendly and the pub had a very relaxing atmosphere about it especially with the roaring log fire! We came back in the evening to have dinner, which was brilliant, the food was reasonably priced and very imaginative – not your bog standard pub affair! We had starters, mains and dessert which were all excellent and our waiter recommended that we try a bottle of their sticky toffee pudding ale to share around the table with our dessert, it was delicious and a great alternative to dessert wine! Overall the pub has a great atmosphere, good service, fantastic food and very reasonably priced wines. I can’t recommend this place enough and we hope to come back again!

I manage a pub nearby so I was interested to see the refurbishment and the food offer at the Unicorn. Greeted with a smile and a roaring log fire in the bar area was a good start. We were shown to a Good size table for 5 people in a tastefully decorated restaurant area. The lighting, music, candles made a nice atmosphere to dine. The waiter was very helpful as the girls selected their wine whereas I had a well looked after pint of Eagle IPA. We all had starters, I had a very generous amount of muscles which were superb and for my main course the pork belly which again was cooked to a very high standard. I didn't have pudding, I was too full.

All in all I was happy to find somewhere nice to eat. Good job.
