“Perfect late afternoon tea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Called in for a refreshing cup of tea late on Wednesday after a long run around Carsington Water earlier in the day. Lovely friendly and attentive service and whilst we only had a drink you could feel the atmosphere building for the Wednesday Pizza night where I was told that 30 had already booked!

We didn't try the food but did but a very tasty sourdough loaf and some runaway French cheese which was devoured at home that evening with a glass of wine. Delicious.

“Awesome bakery”

Fantastic artisanal bakery in great little Peak District village. Always worth a detour for the bread (excellent croissants this morning and Barm bread made with Marstons. Pedigree instead of water this afternoon). Very friendly service

Really glad to hear you enjoyed the croissants - I have been working on our recipe recently. Also glad the beer bread went down well. The beer is provided every week by a great local pub, The Fisherman's Rest. Andrew

“Wednesday night pizza night. A delight!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2013

Came here with a group of friends to try the pizzas. The bakery had been transformed into a charming restaurant which was full and buzzing with a great atmosphere.

The staff were all attentive and professional. The menu offered a good choice of pizzas - we had delicious garlic bread as a starter. My pizza was authentic Italian style - freshly made and yummy.

It's great to see a small local business thriving.

“Wednesday night wonder! Pizza at The Loaf”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

Our first taste of pizza night at The Loaf and we'll certainly return. The chic day to night transformation is both atmospheric and relaxing at the same time. A full house made me think they must be doing something right.

A wide variety of pizzas were on offer, with salads, coleslaw and garlic bread, plus delicious homemade desserts. We went for the 2nd sitting of the evening and took our own wine and beers, as there is no drinks licence. A great way to keep the cost down in these times of austerity. There are a wide range of soft drinks and coffees available too.

The pizzas were freshly cooked and the pizza dough as you'd expect for an artisan bakery, was amazing. Plentiful topping and fresh shredded salad. I didn't think we'd have room for dessert but I managed to save a small space for the tiramisu.

The service was excellent, friendly and welcoming without being over fussy. A wonderful evening, well worth a try, but I think you'll need to book, as it was buzzing with happy customers.
