This is a fitting monument to generations of soldiers who have dedicated their lives to Queen and Country. It is a beautiful setting and well cared for. Too emotional, I can only say, go there, spend time there, try to be there on their special day to join in the service.

“Worth going.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2011

We took our young grandson to Crich tramway museum and could see the war memorial as we were going along on the trams. Our grandson was very interested and so we asked at Crich what it was. We decided to visit after we left Crich, and got there only to find that the memorial had just been locked up for the day. The gentleman at the gate said to drive up and have a little look while we turned the car around. At this point we saw the gentleman who had just locked up and he came and spoke to us. We asked him a few questions - he was really interesting and knowledgeable and apologised for it now being closed. We commented that it wasn't a problem - we were too late and we would come again. He chatted to our grandson and when he realised how interested he was, and how far away we lived - he insisted on opening up the memorial again for them to go up to the top! I was amazed at this - what a wonderful thing to do. Didn't catch the gentlemans name, but we were very impressed. We will go again and spend longer there - earlier in the day as it closes at 5pm. There is a tea room there too - but we didn't sample this.
By the way - the view is absolutely amazing from here. You can see for miles. When we were there it was just starting to rain, but I would love to go again and spend time looking at the view. You can see for miles!!!
