“Lives up to its reputation!”
Reviewed August 13, 2013 via mobile

Stayed 3 nights with Gudrun and Veldur. We were warned that the only room available was the smallest but it was fine. Full size double bed against a wall but extremely comfortable and all beautifully clean and fresh. The kitchenette was well equipped and fresh bread and cakes appeared regularly. Gudrun took so much time and effort to help her guests make the most of their stay in Iceland, providing maps and suggesting places to visit. Such a lovely couple, we can't wait to visit Iceland again and will make sure we stay here!

Minna-Mosfel Guesthouse is a fabulous place to start your trip to Iceland! A comfortable 3 bedroom suite with kitchen and bath above the owners' home is shared by travelers. The kitchen is stocked with foods for breakfast and lunch with homemade bread appearing every morning! The accommodations are extremely clean and comfortable and Gudrun, the proprietor could not be more helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable and is happy to give detailed information about anything you could possibly want to know or do. During our four day stay with her she sent us to what must be the best restaurant in Iceland for lobster, booked a table for us at a charming restaurant in Reykjavik and suggested all sorts of sights for us to visit throughout the country. Her husband gave us a demonstration of the capabilities of the Icelandic pony (they own 12 or 15, visible from the window of one of the guest rooms) and he could not have been kinder in a myriad of other ways as well.

Gudrun and Valur (the owners) make this guesthouse a very special place to stay when in Iceland. Their hospitality is unlimited and the cakes provided to nibble on are delicious (as is the fresh bread for breakfast in the morning). We were given great advice on a driving route to take following sightseeing at Gullfoss and Geysir-it made for a great day out in addition to seeing some spectacular views slightly off the main tourist route. The rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are good and there is a nice common area to relax in. Over-all, we loved both our nights stay at Minna-Mosfell guesthouse.

This past July our family of four traveled to Iceland and stayed at the Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse. We felt it was so refreshing to stay right outside of Reykjavik, as the countryside was absolutely beautiful! As we pulled up to the guesthouse we were warmly greeted by the Sigurðardóttir's. They are a friendly couple whose hospitality made it feel like a home away from home. Everything was clean and well kept, and the groceries provided were just what we needed for breakfast. The homemade bread every morning was delightful and our children especially loved the delicious treats waiting for us when we arrived back at the guesthouse after site-seeing each day. We also used the kitchen a significant amount after a quick trip into the grocery store. That was ideal for us since we were traveling with children. The countryside made for a beautiful hike and amazing photo opportunities. If we are able to return to Iceland we will undoubtedly stay at the Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse again!

Just got back from two short stays with Guðrún at the farmhouse - one after arrival as an alternative to staying in Reykjavik's city center, then again after a trip to the north as an overnight before heading back to the airport.

On both occasions you couldn't ask for more. Clean, well appointed rooms, a nice kitchenette, beautiful surroundings, and of course, Guðrún's (now famous) cakes and fresh bread that others have mentioned. A 15 to 20 minute drive and you're in the heart of the city walking the strip.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Minna-Mosfell guesthouse.

We arrived for our 36 hour trip to Iceland, followed the directions to Minna-Mosell and arrived in time to be greeted by our hostess. Valur gave us directions for a nice hike up the back-of-their-house mountain. So wonderful...then she suggested a restaurant nearby where we had dinner. The next day we had FRESH eggs, from the farm. Although we don't eat the daily baked fresh bread, I wish we did. We had plenty of other choices, yougurt, fruit, meats and cheeses and juices. It is serve yourself and it is easy and nice. We did the Golden Circle and again, Valur gave the best advise...she even checked the weather forecast for us! A newly retired teacher, she is a natural. We had dinner in the city and when we returned we slept like babies. The South room has an amazing view of the valley and the horses, sheep and landscape like no other. Following another nice breakfast, we were off to the Blue Lagoon, then the states. I cannot recommend this B&B more, it was perfect.

Room Tip: south room has the best view in my opinion.

What a perfect stay. Amazing hospitality from the moment we arrived early til the second we left. Fresh home-made bread made by kind, caring people. And special heart-shaped cakes made for us and the other honeymooning couple. We awoke to gorgeous mountains and horses out our window, just a short stroll from fields of flowers. It was idyllic. It's not far from Reykjavik as well as Pingvellir. We will absolutely come back and stay here the next time we are in Iceland!
