Minna-Mosfell was wonderful place to stay in Iceland! The hosts are so warm and kind and are very helpful in planning your own Icelandic adventures. Their home has beautiful horses and is located off of the Golden Circle. The rooms were adorable and the breakfast was the most delicious treats to wake up to every morning.

Very nice people, running this guesthouse. Although facilities are excellent already, they decided to improve the guesthouse even more. In april they will built a hot tub and start renovating the common area.
Location is brilliant. Just outside the bigger cities but still in a rural area!

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights at Gudrun & Valur's Guesthouse and were totally charmed by their amazing hospitality. The tastfully decorated facilities were very clean & comfortable and we felt utterly at home. Each mornig we woke to the smell of Gudrun's home baking which was delicious. The immediate locality is beautiful walking and we had a thrilling night watching the Northern Lights from the garden. I was captivated by Iceland and am already planning a return trip with my husband next year staying, of course, at Minna Mosfell.

Room Tip: All three rooms are of the same high quality.

It is difficult / impossible to find anything new to say about Gudrun, Valur, and Minna Mosfell. They were great - so helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Minna Mosfell is great - comfortable, warm, ample supplies, including freshly made bread, freshly made desserts, cakes. It is in a great location - away from the lights and bustle of Reykjavik, with views of the hills / mountains, and walks from the door. And we saw the northern lights from the garden. In short - it is all great!

We booked a room in this guesthouse after reading all the wonderful comments and we were so glad we did. Our room (East Room) was beautiful, spacious, warm and nicely decorated. It had lovely view of the valley.

The house itself was very clean and well equipped. There are shampoo, shower gel and hair dryer in the bathroom. The kitchen was full of delicious food: freshly baked bread and homemade cakes! The fridge was packed with milk, juice, also jams, pate and meats for making breakfast / packed lunch. We were also provided with a picnic rucksack, a huge thermos and many boxes (which we filled with lots of delicious sandwiches & cakes) for our Golden Circle road trip. Gudrun also gave us a box of homemade cookies for us to take for our trip. The location of the house is perfect, it is in the countryside and gives you an amazing view of the mountains & valleys, yet only around 5-minute drive to the nearest supermarket and restaurant.

The hosts, Gudrun & Valur, were the friendliest and most helpful people we have ever met. They made us feel very welcome. They also tried their best to make sure you have the best trip of your life. On our last night, we were in our room packing our things, feeling slightly defeated as we were not able to see the Northern Lights. The weathers for the previous two nights were really bad, and the aurora forecast for our last night was ‘quiet’. Next thing we know, Gudrun & Valur came to our room to let us know that we should be able to see the aurora that night! The next 10 minutes were very exciting, they both got their laptops on to show us the weather forecast, checked the weather outside the house but unfortunately it was cloudy, called several people to find out where is best to see them, gave us directions of where to drive to, lent us warm wool overalls so we won’t freeze and off we went. After half an hour drive, we couldn’t believe it when we actually saw them. And, when we came back, they were more excited than us when they found out that we managed to see them!

We have loved our stay in this guesthouse very much and would totally recommend it to everyone. Thanks, Gudrun & Valur, for making our trip so special. We hope to come back soon. :)

This is a lovely guesthouse set in a beautiful location with the best hosts anyone could hope for. Gudrun and Valur are such kind and welcoming people. They were more than happy to help with any questions we had and we enjoyed talking to them. The bread and cakes we were given were delicious and made fresh daily. Our room was so clean and comfy. On our second night the Northern Lights made an appearance and, thanks to Gudrun's advice, we drove down the road to the National Park to see them even clearer. The guesthouse is particularly well situated for a day trip round the Golden Circle which was beautiful. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you Gudrun and Valur!

I just came home from a trip to Iceland with my sister and my cousin and staying at Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse was for sure one of the highlights. Before we even got there Gudrun answered tons of emails about questions we had regarding transportation issues (we didn't have a car). She was always prompt and very helpful.

On the way there we were pleasantly surprised to see how well the guesthouse is marked for people unfamiliar with the area. Its a bit off the beaten path and I was expecting that finding it was going to be an issue. Any time I spent worrying about that was for not as they have several signs posted to make it as easy as possible to find.

Once we got there things just got better. Our room was lovely and very clean, as were the shared bathroom, kitchen and common area. The beds were comfortable and it was one of the best night sleeps I had in Iceland. Gudrun could not have been more helpful with travel advice around Mosfellsbaer and surrounding areas. Valur was great too. He drove us into town and picked us up which was so kind of him. We all felt like we were treated just like their family would have been.

One night we were out looking at the sky (unfortunately only clouds to see) and Valur was out taking care of his horses. He invited us up to the barn and told us all about his horses and information about Icelandic horses in general. It was such a treat to get such a personalized tour of the barn and horses.

Gudrun's baking was also amazing. The smell of freshly baked bread is pretty much the best way to start the day, that is until you are eating it. And then the treats at night were a great way to cap off the day.

We arrived at Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse after some time in Reykjavik and a two day hiking adventure and it was the perfect place to relax and re-group before heading back to the city. I can't say enough good things about the facilities and overall experience of our stay at Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse. And I can't wait to come back.

Room Tip: All three rooms are great, the website is pretty clear about the differences of each.
