On a trip to Norway in October I stopped over in Iceland for 3 nights and stayed with Gudrun and Valur. If you enjoy getting to know people and through them better understanding a place (history and culture), Minna-Mosfell is the place for you. Their farm house is about 15 min outside of Reykjavik and on the way to Pingvillar along the "Golden Circle". The 3 guest rooms are on the top level of their home. My room had a sitting room and was nicely decorated. Their was a common living area, bathroom, and kitchen on this level for the guests to use. The off-season price was exceptional value. However, the best reason to stay a Minna-Mosfell is to get to know Gudrun and Valur.

During my stay I unfortunately got ill from something I ate but Gudrun did everything she could to make me comfortable, including homemade soup. I spent a few occasions talking with Valur about Iceland's history, places, and things to do. He went so far is to call some farmers that live closer to the high-country to see if the roads were still passable so He could personally take me out in his 4x4 to show me one of the most spectacular lava tubes and glaciers. Unfortunately, they were not. He let me borrow an extra torch and riding helmet to wear when I went exploring the Raufarholsheillir lava tube which was a great experience. I think one of the nicest things I saw them do was baby sitting the young child of a English couple that was staying there so they could go out on the town for a couple nights. The highlight of my visit was not Gullfoss falls but my last evening in Iceland when Gudrun and Valur invited me down into their home for a wonderful salmon dinner. We drank wine and talked for hours. I feel on this visit I made some friends and when I go back I will stay with them again and renew the friendship that we started during my last visit.

Minna Mossfell Guesthouse has much more than exceeded our expectations. Reading all of the amazing reviews before we visited I still did not think it was possible for somewhere to live up to the 100% praise that it has received.. All I can say is, it 100% true.

I took my girlfriend, now fiancée, away to Iceland on a surprise trip specifically to propose to her. I secretly informed Gudrun of this prior to our arrival and they assisted in making this the most memorable stay we could imagine.

We stayed 3 nights and amazingly every morning and evening we were greeted with either fresh pancakes, baked bread, cakes or quesadillas. The fridge was fully stocked with everything we needed and the hospitality was amazing. As well as the property being spotlessly tidy, the hosts are genuine and kind people who take pride to ensure that you have the most memorable stay possible.

The Guesthouse is set in a valley and the views from the windows are outstanding. Although we were outside of the City it was only a short 20 minute drive or 30 minute bus ride away meaning that we could briefly experience both the City life and the Country life of Iceland. We were ideally positioned for the Golden Circle tour as the first stop was only around 20 minutes down the road.

In all the Guesthouse and its location was perfect but it was the hosts who truly made our engagement experience a faultless once in a life time trip that we will always remember.

We had a great stay here last week. We were lucky to be the only guests so it was like we had our own suite! The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom and kitchen were also clean and well equipped. The hosts really were lovely, they brought us home made pancakes in the evening and freshly baked bread in the morning and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. They also tried really hard to help us see the Northern Lights but sadly the lights were not coming out! We stayed here after arriving in Iceland and on the way to the Golden Circle, which is was very well placed for.

We liked our experience at Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse very much. We (a groupd of 4) visit Iceland in late August, staying in Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse was the begining of the round trip. Due to lack of planing we booked everything in rush. Very luckily we booked the Minna-Mosfell Guesthouse. The team turns out to be very satisfied.

The owner couple was very friendly. They gave us warm welcome when we arrived under dull sky, the rooms were nicely arranged just to suit and exceed our need.

The owner couple was also very helpful. With the borrowed maoyi (wool clothes, sweaters) and map we enjoyed better the round trip. After the round trip we visited them again to return the goods, also to say thanks and good bye.

Cake (name forgotten) served in the morning was very good and warm, it's a good beginning of the day.

We like it, we recommend it, espcially for family visit to Iceland. We did so to people around us already.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our two nights at Minna-Mosfell with Gudrun and Valur. Their guesthouse is located in the Mosfell valley, just outside Reykjavik and near to Thingvellir. We were about two weeks into an almost month long trip, thus we really appreciated that Gudrun agreed to do some laundry for us so we again had fresh clean clothes!

One thing to be aware of is that this is a bed and breakfast type of guesthouse, where the rooms are in the same house, in the floor above the hosts. I only say this because most guesthouses in Iceland we have stayed in are not like this, but have separate houses with rooms and shared facilities.

The rooms are nicely furnished with free wifi. There is a small common area and kitchen, with some basic food provided and a shelf in the fridge for each room. The fresh eggs from the farm were fantastic, as were all of the homemade treats that Gudrun brought up from her kitchen downstairs - pönnukökur, breads and jam! We were lucky to be there during blueberry season.

Valur is an entertaining storyteller in true Icelandic style. If you are interested in Icelandic culture and history and familiar with the sagas of Icelanders, and works of Laxness, it is a real treat to spend some time talking to him and hear plenty of stories and local history.

Mt. Esja is close by (we did not have time to climb it this time, but maybe on our next visit), as is Gljúfrasteinn, the former home of author Halldór Laxness that is now a museum. Also, Mosfellbaer has a new pool that is a wonderful facility, which Gudrun told us about.

Minna-Mosfell is a great alternative to staying in downtown Reykjavik if you have a car. You can easily drive into the city for dinner and come back to sleep in a cozy, quiet room with nice views of the valley (and away from city lights if you are hoping to view some aurora). It's also quite a bargain compared to hotels in Reykjavik!

I stayed here with my dad for 3 days during our short stay in Iceland. It's a great place from which to explore nearby attractions and go on lot's of hikes. Gudrun and Valur are caring hosts, the kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and pack a lunch and when we returned in the afternoons we were greeted with fresh pancakes or quesadillas. The rooms were cleaned every day. When we asked Gudrun about a good restaurant in Reykjavik she pulled out her phone right away and made reservations for us. In similar manners the hosts provided us with everything to have a pleasant and interesting stay in Western Iceland. Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality!

We stayed our first 2 days and our last day after our tour round iceland here, what can i say, it was the best place on our trip to iceland. Gudrun and Valur are the perfect hosts, and we felt like a part of the familie. fresh made blueberry jam from the mountains in front of the house, deliscious pancakes, freshmade bread (the sweet dark one too, in germany we have something similar could honey bread) was absolutely great. And for sure what i will not forget, the icelandic gastronomic specialty Valur invited me: the HAKARL and Brenevinn! Thanks a lot Gudrun and Valur for your warm welcome and the perfect stay. When we came back to iceland, we will stay here again for sure, to see you gudrun and valur!
