The room was fine. It was small, but for a budget hotel in an expensive city, it was what I needed. Everything was clean and well attended. The staff was pleasant and spoke English, which was helpful.

Our room (403) was small but comfortable. The lighting was good. There was no security box and very little hanging space. The double bed was right against the corner of the room so access for one side was somewhat limited. The Air Con worked well and the WIFI was OK. The bathroom/toilet was very compact but functional. The staff members were friendly and helpful. They told us of a nice eating place: To get there… turn leftup on exiting the hotel, walk to the corner, turn right and cross the street. Cannot remember the name but it was on the third floor of the building on the corner. Great meals at reasonable prices.

Dear our loyal guest,

Thank you very much for sharing your positive experience on TripAdvisor.
We are very pleased to have nice feedback from you.

Firstly, the security box is currently not set in each room. but we can keep the guest important safety properties in our security box. So please feel free to let reception know.

Secondly, our hotel room is standard Tokyo business hotel size, some guests may feel small to the rooms.
However we are very glad that you like our hotel overall, especially the function and room layout.

Thirdly, we are honored to have the compliment feedback for our staffs.
The expedience that you had very nice meals at our recommended restaurant, makes us also happy;)

We hope that you come back to IBIS Tokyo Shinjuku to enjoy exploring our neighborhood again!

Best Regards,

From all the IBIS chain, this must be the smallest room and most expensive one.
Location is good but very noisy due to central area of Shinjuku, easy access by metro station at walking distance.
Room is very tight and bathroom very small, if you are 6’ or more, impossible to get in to take a shower!
There is a chronic strong smell of mold and sewage in the bathroom, after complaint did not change my room, instead they used spray to neutralize the smell, but next day the strong smell persisted!
Front desk staff efficient but no smiles, restaurant staff mostly all foreigners working part time, speaks English, Pakistanis, Thai... but not fluent in Japanese!
There was karaoke session at night at the coffee shop area, located by the young locals, nosy and unable to get any snacks since bar/restaurant was closed.
Also depending on the day of the week, price go up, so make sure your room rate at the time of booking.

Very nice stay for our first visit to Tokyo. We got around by metro and it was convenient. Near the hotel you had everything, including Omoide Yokocho to have dinner. We booked a twin room to have some more space, but be aware that is still small, but normal for Japan standards. Nice bed. We would stay there again.
