Perfectly adequate

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 20, 2019via mobile
Since this is our first Japanese hotel visit we can’t compare. We found it to be perfectly clean and neat and the staff satisfied our very few needs. Is the room small? Yes it is, but I hazard a guess this is the norm for a very cramped and overpopulated city. We absolutely loved our free Handy Android device. It was an absolute life saver and we were saddened to read that this service is being discontinued starting Aug 22. We weren’t expecting to have it ( it was not advertised) but it saved as many $$ by not having to activate international service on our own phones.
Again we enjoyed our stay in this very conveniently located hotel.

Dear Mr./Ms. JonnyNew

Thank you for the positive review about the room and the staffs.
All the staffs are happy to hear it and your comment encourage them.
I am afraid that rent service for a smart phone has been terminated. However, all the staffs keep doing their best to be able to meet the guest's expectation in different way.

I hope that you will choose Shinjuku Granbell Hotel again and I am looking forward to seeing you in the near future.

Yours sincerely,

The prices were in range for hotels in the area, the rooms were clean. However the room was very small so just be wary when you book . However this is consistent with room sizes in tokyo. Remember to use the mobile phone provided by the hotel. Its for free with unlimited data and free local phone calls.
The roof top garden is a nice place to relax with a drink in evenings

Dear Mr./Ms. Pradhananga79

All the staffs are happy to hear your positive review this time that the room was nice. There are also bigger rooms in this hotel. If you search the room on the hotel official website, I think you will find your favorite room.
The rooftop bar on 13F is very popular among many guests.
It is nice to hear that you enjoyed the time there.
All the staffs keep doing their best to be able to provide better service.
I hope that you will choose Shinjuku Granbell Hotel again and I am looking forward to seeing you in the near future.

Location of the hotel is so far so good. Bad attitude of Front Desk staff, no smile no eye contact, just feel that staff wanna finish his work quickly and didn't welcome me.

When I entered the room, the room is small but which is acceptable for me as I'm a single traveller. However, the furniture is old and the cleanliness of the room is extremely worst. it is not acceptable!!

I would not recommend and must not visit this hotel again!

Dear Mr./Ms. fiddly1028

Thank you for the review during your stay.
I am very sorry for not being able to provide you the satisfactory service.
The front staffs in this hotel should be re-trained not make the guest unpleasant and be able to do customer service which is more than expectation.

As for the room which was pointed out, it will be improved immediately and prepare the satisfactory environment.

Yours sincerely,

We stayed in Tokyo for 5 nights at Granbell. 2 of us. Stayed in a standard double/lead in room type the first 3 nights just as a place to sleep and shower. Then moved it one of the suites our remaining 2 nights which was totally worth it. The first room was small as expected (and most rooms in Japan) but was new, modern, clean etc. Then the Granbell suite was well worth the money. 5 times the size of original room, with washing machine, large bathtub, large shower, separate living and bedroom. 150% worth the money and will be back. Breakfast included with the suite good for hotel breakfast. Location was great as well. Not as central to Shinjuku station however still a short 5-10 minute walk (depending on how slow/many distractions you find along the way). Definitely felt safe walking back to the hotel at early hours of the morning although located within the red light district & love hotels. Staff were great as well. There was a good baseball batting cage across the road, 7/11's on every corner and some smaller train stations nearby. No issue staying here whatsoever will be back.

Room tip: Suites were well worth the extra $

Dear Mr./Ms. pizzadisposer3

Thank you for a lot of positive review.
All the staffs are glad to hear that you were especially favorite with suite room.
Though there are 4 suite rooms, every room has different taste.
Please stay in different suite room next time and enjoy its taste.
As you said, entertainment district is nearby and excellent access to go there. On the other hand, very quiet area and you can have rest without worry.
I hope that you will choose Shinjuku Granbell Hotel again and I am looking forward to seeing you in the near future.

The check in process was okay but we arrived early and the first person wasn’t particularly friendly. She seemed a bit cold but let us store our bags there so we could come back a few hours later. Our room was really small, but it had a loft bed which made it seem more spacious. Lots of amenities such as coffee, tea, tooth brushes, body towel, qtips, organic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and nightgowns. I found it odd that there was a mirror on top of the bed. The location of the hotel was seedy so if you come back late, try to take the main roads or take a cab.

We stayed in a standard double in August. The room was fine- cosy, but big enough for two of us and all our luggage. The aircon was excellent- if anything a bit too cold. We didn’t have amazing views on the sixth floor, but they were good enough. The big plus of Granbell is the rooftop bar, and we frequented it for local beer and cocktails every night. This is where you can get your views :)

Breakfast was fine, Spaghetti and noodles were excellent.

If I came back to Shinjuku, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again
