Was looking for a hotel near Tsukiji Fish Market to go for one last tuna auction before they finally move to the new location, and landed on this hotel for its location, price, and that I've stayed at other locations from this chain before. The hotel is easy to locate, across from Tsukiji Hongwanji and there's a big red fish mural on the side of the building.

Room:
Would say slightly bigger by local standards - there is a washer/dryer in the room (which would be handy if you're staying for more than a few days) and there's the standard minimal storage spaces but enough for your travel needs if you're willing to spread it around and get a little creative too. Bathroom is also standard issue with good water pressure. While the room itself has basically no exterior views (opens into interior building space) the good thing is also that there's no noise from the streets. Bed is comfortable and everything is very clean, as one would expect.

Location:
One of the primary reasons for choosing this hotel is because it is less than 10min walk from the information centre/building to line up for tuna auction. At that hour (4am) there is no public transportation so if you're staying in a hotel that's not closeby your only option would be taxi (expensive) or walk (long). As it is located in the Outer Tsukiji Market area/block, you have no shortage of restaurants within a 5min walk. If you rather take the subway, Tsukiji Station (Hibiya line) is 5min walk, Higashi-ginza station (Asakusa line) is 10min walk, or 20min walk to Shimbashi station for JR. Excellent location!

Intangibles:
While the inner market (and tuna auction) will move out of this area in Oct 2018, the popular outer market will remain (is my understanding), so the appeal and positives of this hotel should remain as well.

Having visited Tokyo once before, we knew we wanted to stay as close to Tsukiji Market as possible to take advantage of the amazing sushi (Daiwa), food, and shopping nearby. Tokyu Stay did not disappoint! Although our room was tight, it was comfortable. For the price, the impressive range of amenities was on point: we particularly appreciated the in-room fridge, microwave, and washer and dryer, as well as the free tea, coffee, and breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Service was also excellent. The friendly staff graciously helped with several issues, including promptly sending someone to our room when we had a question about our washer.

If visiting Tsukiji Market is a priority (and it should be!), we highly recommend this hotel for your next Tokyo stay.

Location to Tsukiji market is perfect. Walk out of the hotel door, turn right, walk several steps, and you'll be in the middle of the vendors selling everything from seafood, sweets, ramen, sushi, pickles, knives, etc. I had a nonsmoking "moderate" size room on the 8th floor. The room contained a 31.5" flat screen tv with mostly Japanese programs. CNN is in English. There is a mini fridge that is 12" wide and 14" high. I could fit several drinks, a sandwich, and a small salad in there. There is a desk which is 29" away from the bed. A rolling chair fits under the desk, but it is better to turn the chair sideways facing the tv so you can stretch your legs. The bed was about 55.5" wide. The room size is typical of other Japanese hotel rooms (ie small). The hall is 36" wide. The room also has a trouser press, a humidifier, a folding luggage stand, a washer/dryer combo unit, microwave, and a/c unit. With the suitcase on the stand, it was difficult to open the bathroom door all the way. The trouser press is folded up against the wall, but the metal legs will hook your pants as you walk by if your suitcase is too close to it. The hall is short so putting the suitcase closer to the door will impede your entry and exit from the room. The a/c did an adequate job of cooling the room all night. The room was quiet and outside noise was barely noticeable. The reception employees answered questions about the metro, the washer, transportation to the airport, they helped us figure out the LINE messaging app, and even mailed a parcel to a different part of Japan and they did all of it in a polite, respectful, and prompt manner. Note: The washer also dries the clothes in the same unit. The washer door will remain locked until the machine cools down after the drying cycle (safety feature). There are mini sized toothpaste and hairbrushes by the elevator as well as free teabags. The lobby was always clean and there is free coffee for the guests. The lobby has a machine for ice and you can buy beverages from another vending machine. Note: the room is not cleaned everyday if you stay longer than 7 days. Hang the bath towels on the shower rod to dry. It wasn't a problem for me. The nearest subway station is the Tsukiji Station by the Tsukiji Hongangji temple (about a 4 min. walk). It made for a good landmark reference when coming or going to the hotel. A Starbucks is across the street from the Honganji subway entrance. Hoshino Coffee is across the street from the Tsukiji market (heading in the direction of the Ginza) and serves good coffee. Walking to the Ginza is a 15-20 min. walk up the street. It is really easy to get to. A Jonathan's restaurant and a Lawson convenience store is around the corner from the hotel (3 min walk). The best part of the hotel is the location. I could try something different every morning from different Tsukiji vendors. I could also buy souvenirs from the vendors and put them back in my room before setting off to explore another part of Tokyo.

Clean and reasonably priced accommodations which is very well situated for you to explore the Tsukiji fish market. The hotel is located just next to the outer market and outside of the inner market where the famous 'Tuna auction' and renown sushi restaurant (sushi dai, sushi daiwa, etc) with the infamous long queues reside. If you want to have a 'leg up' on others to queue up for a meal at the restaurants, staying at this hotel is a good start!
