As a family of six, it was hard to find an affordable hotel in Osaka. We wanted to remain together rather than be in separate rooms so the Weekly Mansion Otemae (WMO) got our nod. Firstly the hotel is budget and this is reflected in its price (about USD20 per head per night for our family) and its internal and external appearances. They both look tired but the rooms were clean if a little bit on the smelly side from smokers. Weekly Mansion, please create non smokers rooms! To be expected, the rooms were cramped but we were there to shower and sleep and have breakfast. Toiletries such as shampoos and soaps are not provided so BYO or go to family mart and buy some. The kitchen is stocked with the basics in terms of a working fridge, microwave, stove top and a griller. Cutlery, crockery and various cooking utensils are all present.
Would we come back and stay here again? Yes, so I would recommend Weekly Mansion Otemae. Close to subway, shops, Japanese and western food as well as takeaway and in walking distance to the Osaka History museum and the castle. If your taste does not run to champagne and caviar, WMO is the place. If you are on a tight budget, WMO is for you. Look past its failings and this place is a cheap and cheerful place to stay.More
