We are a family of 5 - 3 kids 5-9 years old. We opted to stay in a Japanese style room although two economy rooms would have been cheaper. It was large and comfortable, and I loved that it had 2 WCs and ample space. We were travelling with family and celebrating a birthday so we were able to squeeze everyone into our room for cake cutting one evening around our tatami mat area. That was 10 adults and 4 kids! It's a really convenient location near Ippudo and Ichiran and all the other shops in Tenjin.

The hotel was able to arrange a minibus to the airport for us, the Panda Taxi costs around Y5000 (can't remember if there was tax). Do enquire with reception if you need it.

Room size is normal however my friend could not place her 31" suitcase well. Furnitures look quite old. Ventilating fan is not functioned in washroom.
The location is good as very close to those famous shopping malls.

After going from shoe box to shoe box, we finally ended up in Hakata at the Nishitetsu Grand Hotel. It was a block away from the subway and a very large structure off of the Tenjin station. The staff is absolutely professional, uniformed like the hotels of old with porters with the small round caps, attending to your every need. The rooms were large by Japanese standards and it is nestled in the middle of a bustling, vibrant part of the city. We were there on a Saturday night and the town was absolutely brimming with young people looking for great izakayas and karaoke pavilions. Many of the establishments were open all night and we ventured out for Hakata ramen at midnight to be rewarded with the creamy tonkotsu broth ramen that this region is known for. It was absolutely worth the trip to Fukuoka, just for that pleasure. I went to Kitakata, Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima and now Hakata for regional ramens and I must say, I love them all! The hotel is well appointed, many beautiful restaurants, bakeries, convention halls and fully equipped for weddings. We wished that we had a little more time here but perhaps next time!
