I BOOKED 4 NIGHTS at HOTEL.COM during CP+ Photo Expo. (confirmation attached below) Stated TWIN room, AT 19Meter Square with CITY VIEW. upon check in at around 8 pm, problems started:

1. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT: Room stated 19m2, actual 14M2 FOTOS footage Attached as proof (with the help of the gentleman at concierge in the photo to scale the room size)
2. MANAGER, MR Junki, LIED When emailed twice by Hotel.com stating I was GIVEN Room UPGRADE
I used to think Japanese was brought up with Honor & Integrity, unfortunately, this manager is not.

In my 40 years of travel experience, Hotels in Europe, US, Asia, DON'T LIE about their room size. More importantly, should the Concierge gave the wrong size room, managers usually address the issue by changing room IMMEDIATELY, and NOT LIE about room UPGRADE.

This shows a very incompetent manager appointed at this establishment ...
Any TA members, who would like to ask for video footage of the room measurement, please direct message, as trip advisor could not upload my video file..

This place has pretty much everything going for it:
* Great location convenient to subway blue line and scads of great bars and eateries.
* Extremely stylish and “cool” rooms, lobby, etc. Tatami floor in rooms (no shoes!) and slick AV setup.
* Great breakfast - choose western or Japanese.
* Bathrooms are unusually large - not your standard unit baths.

There are some downsides tho:
* Everyone’s said it. The single rooms are small... or more specifically, the living area is. Those larger bathrooms cost you some bed area living space.
* And pretty dark... Even with every light on.
* If you have a bit more luggage, prepare to play suitcase Tetris to get around in the room. (Hint, use that extra bathroom space)
* This is a personal gripe... but for lord’s sake, never put ketchup on scrambled eggs without asking. Barf.
* No desk, no chairs... you’re either in the bathroom or on the bed. Not a place to stay if you need to work from your room. Tho the lobby has some cool space you could use...

That being said... I’d definitely stay here again. Maybe spring for a bigger room. Getting off the low bed was a bit dodgy for me cuz I’m getting old and there were no convenient hand holds to pull me up. So I’d recommend this place for younger folks for sure. Big or older folks who don’t pack lightly might have some issues tho.

Pro: close to the subway station
close to the shopping mall a few blocks away
walking distance to the waterfront and cruise terminal.
Fairly new hotel, English speaking staff, Decent breakfast with a set menu (either english type or japanese style) (go for the japanese style)
Great shower, comfortable bed. (futon style)
Cons: an earlier reviewer stated it is compact. that is a good description. There wasn't room for two large suitcases (26 in) There was room for one of the suitcases in the bathroom of all places. We placed the luggage rack in there and there was room. They have traditional tatami mats so make sure you take your shoes off
Would I stay here again. YES but, I noticed how much larger a two bed unit was over the single bed unit. I would pay the extra monies for the larger room

Room tip: The rooms are small, next time I would get a room that has two beds so you will have more room

The location was good. I got to the Blue Line Kannai Subway Station Exit 9 of the subway and arrived in about 1 minute. The room was two large beds and the rest of the space was narrow. I relaxed on the bed instead of the sofa, but I did not mind separately. There was bathtub in bathroom, too and was able to heal fatigue of one day.
However, arrived at midnight, I was surprised by the darkness of the room! When l asked the receptionist, I realized that I was expressing the darkness with the concept of Japan about Yokohama of 1872. I wanted that explanation at check-in.

New hotel in a great location. Modern with a kind of old style Japanese Inn (Ryokan) theme. The ryokan bit is basically a section of the room with tatami mats. The beds which look like futon, but are actually mattresses are on wooden frames, are on the tatami.

We had daily breakfast included. Your choice - Japanese or western. The choice is EXACTLY the same every day (see the picture on their website).

The subway entrance is about one minute walk. Kannai train station is about 5 mins. There are tons of great restaurants and bars all around. Great morning walks up Bashamichi around the Minato Mirai area is a great thing to do.

Some quirks: The rooms, though beautifully decorated, are quite dark. Not a prob during the day, but after dark navigation can be problematic. Watch out for that step up/down to the bed area from the entrance way. The coffee/tea service above the refrigerator has no light save a battery powered light which was quite weak. Pouring hot water into cups in the dark was challenging. The mirror in the bathroom was poorly lighted as well. I used the portable light from the tea service to see while shaving as did the wife for applying make up. These are all easy fixes, and I’m sure the management will take it for action.

The bath is fantastic. I love the Japanese style bath. Sit on the stool and shower and scrub away until you’re squeaky clean, then submerge in the deep tub for a good relaxing soak. Ahhhh...
