Lovely spacious room with a great view over Kyoto. Plenty of bars and restaurants within the hotel with various types of cuisine . Views over the city from the buffet restaurant and a wide choice of food. Try the wine buffet in the evening !

A lovely spacious room on the seventh floor, this was, in fairness, possibly the best city hotel room we’d stayed in throughout our travels in Japan, although we had booked (or rather the wife had!) deluxe accommodation.

Buffet-style breakfast was on the 17th floor with lovely views overlooking the river. The choice was reasonably good, and the food the same. This was the only breakfast where they did an omelet with a choice of fillings, which was a real bonus: other hotels would only supply plain omelettes. We did have one minor issue at this restaurant: we had a deadline one morning, and when we arrived for breakfast, to our horror the place was full, and there was a queue waiting outside.

The staff throughout the hotel were very pleasant and helpful, and service was generally impeccable.

Would recommend ...

The fabulous hotel has very well appointed rooms that are quite large with room for a comfy chair, footstool and coffee table. The location is great as you are close to public transport but also close to some fabulous undercover shopping arcades and markets that will make your stay in Kyoto just that much better. The staff at the hotel go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable and that you get the most out of being in Kyoto. The bakery downstairs is also good to keep in mind for an early morning or late afternoon snack.

The hotel is in a good location for the metro and arcades, in fact it has a direct entrance to the station. From there you can explore the entire city by easy connections, or if you prefer it’s not that far to walk either to both the old and new parts of the city.

A large group stayed here for a week in cherry blossom time. Quite simply it is an excellent hotel, quiet, welcoming with friendly staff and great breakfasts especially on the upper floor where you benefit too from great views. You can walk to many downtown locations and the subway is directly on hand.
