It is a really cute hotel with tatami floor rooms and traditional Japanese windows panels but at the same time all the modern amenities you would expect. The room includes a little tea area with a table. The public bath is nice and it is open until 1am which gives plenty of time to enjoy it after a long day of sightseeing. Location is very good, just 1 block away from the Shiyakusho-Mae subway station (line to the Kyoto station) and 6 blocks away from the Sanjo Keihan one (line to a lot of the mayor attractions like Fushimi Inari), it is walking distance from the Gion district and the Nishiki Market.
Staff is very kind and will do their best to help.
What could use some improvement is breakfast, it is the same everyday with tasty Japanese options and some more western friendly ones (bacon and eggs) but can get tiresome if staying more that two days. It is also lacking fresh fruit and sweets options. I don’t know if it is because of the room temperature or the replenish time but food always seemed to be cold with a few exceptions like the miso soup.
All in all a good option when staying in Kyoto.More
