My wife and I had a great stay at Solaria Kyoto hotel. Its located at the most best location for most of key sites to visit in Kyoto. Its within 10 mins walk to the Gion area and the Nishiki market and shopping areas. Its also next to the train station for convenient transfer to other location. The rooms are large compared to most Japanese hotels. Enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for three days while I was in Kyoto. It is a very good hotel, in an excellent location. The counter staff were very nice although when I arrived early, I received the standard greeting of check in was not available until 3PM. It would have been nice if the staff had checked first but they did not and I was not in a big hurry so I just let it be. There are a couple of subway stations within about 5 minutes of the hotel (it is about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the main train station) and there are a ton of restaurants around. The room was very nice and the breakfast was good although it did not change for the three days that I was at the hotel (plenty of selection though). The most FANTASTIC part of the hotel is the very nice public bath area with a couple of hot pools to just soak in after a long day touring the city. Make sure to ask for some extra pillows as the ones in the room are not great. I had a really nice stay at the hotel and would highly recommend it.

Room tip: It costs extra for a view of the water. There's not much to see so I saved the money.

This is a new, clean, well-designed option in a fantastic location. It's next to the river at San-jo and a half block to the subway Tozai line. But make sure you get the right room. My standard twin had the beds flush together and the window facing the street was frosted -- it felt claustrophobic and cheap. I upgraded to a view twin that was 2 m2 larger, had separated beds, and faced into a pleasant air shaft featuring a green wall. It was quite comfortable. Each bed had two pillows: a soft and a firm (very nice). For management: Please put more effort into sustainability by offering a place in the lobby to refill personal water bottles instead of relying on single-use plastic.

Room tip: Facing the interior air shaft is best option for twin rooms

Thank you for staying SOLARIA Nishitetsu Hotel Kyoto Premier.
We are really happy to obtained a good appraisal.

We are sorry for the frosted window.
Standard twin room window is only frosted window for privacy , because infront of our hotel is Condominium.
I'm so sorry, but please understand.

Thank you for your writing reviews.

If you have a chance to visit Kyoto, please come here again.
We are looking forward to seeing you again!

Best regards.

This hotel is perfect for a few days in Kyoto. The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic, and generally speak English (staff on reception and the concierge spoke excellent English).

The hotel is well located with most attractions within easy walking or bus/subway reach. On one side of the hotel is a river (with riverside walk). The other side is a busy narrow street with lots of restaurants and bars (note, the hotel restaurant is closed in the evenings).

While the standard rooms are small, they are perfectly formed with a huge range of accessories including pyjamas, in-room and indoor slippers, etc. The bed was very comfortable and room very clean and well maintained. There is an excellent wet-room with shower and bath, with great water pressure.

The buffet breakfast is extensive with a huge selection of traditional Japanese breakfast options, as well as western options including an egg station.

There is a Japanese style public bath in the basement with everything supplied.

In the room there was a “smart phone” for use by guests. This provided free local calls, internet access and most usefully Google maps. This was really useful (especially when lost) and should be provided by all hotels (previously we had only seen this in Hong Kong).

This hotel is highly recommended. If we were to stay again for five nights we would get a larger room. The standard rooms are small and are fine for one or two nights.

Concierge sucks like no other. Asked him to help book restaurant and he said he can only help with two dates and not third date, because it is our check out time. Like seriously, I wish the restaurant would offer English and he didn’t even try to help me. He just called and gave up, even though I showed him the website. Yeah. No customer service here.

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for staying with us.
And we are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Actually, we do not help to make a reservation for restaurant after check-out date because we cannot have the responsibility for restaurants.
This is our hotel policy.
However, if a restaurant is in Kyoto City, we sometimes help to make a reservation.
If it is out of Kyoto, we usually ask next hotel to help.

Anyway, he should have made an effort as well as possible.
We deeply apologized.

Best regards,
Nami Furukawa
