We visited Nugget Point at the end of a beautiful day, and even though we had 8 kms or so of gravel road, it was worth it!! We got to go into a penguin "hide" and saw yellow eyed penguins coming in, onto the beach. The wonderful volunteer there gave us information and provide binoculars for our use. Then on we went to the parking spot higher up, to walk the rest of the way to the lighthouse. The view from there was awesome and amazing! Seals were resting on the "nuggets" down below. The path and view points were great and we chuckled at the signs "Beware of cliffs". Who are you kidding - will they attack? You walk on the edge of a cliff!! We were grateful it was not blowing a gale though, buut there are fences, so no possibility of falling down the cliffs. You feel like you are the end of the earth... With the light of the setting sun, we were awe-inspired and gobsmacked...

...why else would you fly around the globe and drive down all the way? No, seriously, it's a scenic little sport, well worth a 30 min break. You drive a gravel road for some kilometers and walk a bit. We saw some seals sunbathing on the nuggets, nice weather helps of course :v

This is one of the most beautiful places you'll ever visit, and we were amazed at how little publicity there was for it. Not only are the cliffs, waves and sea spectacular, but there's also plenty of wildlife in the sky, and on the rocks and beaches. Try not to miss it!

There's not a lot at Nugget Point if you don't care about nature and spectacular sea cliffs. Seriously. There's just a single gravel road that winds around the bay and takes you to the lower car park which serves the penguin hide or the upper car park which does the same for the lighthouse and the viewing platforms for the seals
. If you are lucky and it is the right time of year, you may get to see the Yellow-eyed Penguin come ashore in the evening - I did - and you may also get to see the fur seal pups being suckled by their mothers. And the Royal Spoonbills. At any time of year though, you will be able to enjoy the cliffs. There's no fee, the paths are good and well maintained, so enjoy.

One of the most beautiful places we visited during our trip. Amazing view, we saw dolphins swimming and it absolutely a great point to visit.
For best light and view it's best to get there in the afternoon or early evening.
