We had two rooms at Casa Colina for two nights in August and thought the rooms and bathrooms were nicely furnished and decorated.
The location was very good and we enjoyed the fantastic local scenery. The hosts were helpful and friendly, and room service faultless.
However, it looks like someone beat me in their review to the downsides that we also eperienced. Whilst the childrens room was airy and we were therefore able to cool it down, our room didnt have sufficient ventilation to cool it down so was uncomfortably hot in August. This was not helped by the lack of window or extraction in either of our bathrooms. It was difficult to leave the bedroom door open to increase air flow as one of the dogs appeared to like roaming in the room. Same was true of the breakfast area in the sun - too hot if you are in the sun in the sheltered corner.
Other than that would agree with the other post - helps if you like dogs! And the breakfast was surprisingly basic, but nice.

So my rating would be 5 in Sept through to June and 3 in July and August due to the heat concerns.

Pros:

* Great place for relaxation. Complete silence (with the exception for animals, see below).

* They have only 4 rooms in total so no big crowds by the pool.

* Nice views over the countryside. Fruit trees and flowers around the B&B.

* Lots of animals on site. Dogs, chickens and even donkeys. This adds to the rural, relaxing experience.

* Location is convenient. 10 min drive to Riogordo, 30 min to Comares and 40 min to the beaches and the airport.

* Rooms are simply furnished but comfortable. Room included a fridge. Bath room was nice.

* Pool area is pretty and pool size is adequate. More than enough number of sunbeds.

* The hosts are great and very helpful. They offer dinner, snacks, sandwiches and drinks to reasonable prices.

Cons:

* Lots and lots of flies which was annoying.

* If you're not crazy about dogs, you may want to think twice about visiting this place. The owners have three dogs that like to interact a lot with the guests.

* No Air Con. This was an issue as it is often 35 C or warmen during summers.

* Wi-Fi only worked in public areas and not in our room.

* Breakfast costs 5 Euro and was too basic for our taste. The offer scrambled eggs, yogurt, cerials and coffee, fruit, bread, butter and jelly. However no cheese, ham or bacon.

* Beds not too comfortable.

Thank you for your review, we are glad that you found the peace and quiet you were looking for in a relaxing break. We are sorry that you found a problem with our wifi. We have two routers due to the thickness of our walls (traditional Spanish houses are build for keeping out the heat) we think that maybe you didn't connect to the second router which was located in your room. If this had been done you should have not had any problem accessing the internet.

We hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit around Andalucia, we very much enjoyed having your family stay with us.

My stay at Casa Colina was wonderful! After a month of traveling through Europe it was just what I needed to relax. I was able to spend my time soaking up the Spanish sunshine by the swimming pool and exploring the surrounding areas. Casa Colina is not too far from Malaga and is well placed to make trips further away to places like Seville or Granada, as well as smaller places like Comares (which I definitely recommend a trip to). The food is delicious- a great blend of Spanish and English-influenced foods- and it is presented so beautifully it is hard to believe the meals are produced from a home kitchen. The best part about the B&B is Niki & Paul themselves (& their trio of lovely dogs). They are so warm and friendly, and will go the extra mile to help make your stay the best it can be. I had an amazing time- I'll definitely be back!

We had a really lovely trip at Casa Colina; it is the perfect place to get away from hectic life and just relax in beautiful surroundings.

We were on the all inclusive option, which I'd highly recommend for anyone who can't drive/wants a really relaxing stay. The breakfast 'Special' was so good I had it almost every day, and the dinners were all amazing - they could easily be something you'd find in a restaurant.

Paul & Niki were lovely hosts, and their pets were adorable, from the donkeys to their 3 dogs, all with such different but friendly personalities.

While we had an amazing time at Casa Colina, there were a couple of areas we thought could have been improved.

-The door to our room didn't have a fly net or any kind of equivalent, so if the door is open for even a few minutes, the room is bombarded with flies. Whilst we appreciate the flies will always be there, some kind of net/curtain over the door would have definitely helped.

-We found ourselves getting a bit hungry at lunch on the days where we had sandwiches; it was great on the all inclusive option to have the fridge constantly refilled with drinks, and it would have been good if maybe there could have been snacks stocked for if we got hungry between meals (maybe olives, bread or crisps)

-The rooms were cleaned daily, but little things like putting a bin bag in the bathroom bin, and the main bin being emptied more regularly, would have made a big difference.

Overall though, we had an amazing time, and will definitely be back.

Many thanks for your feedback Alex and Lauren. We are glad you had a lovely time at Casa Colina and we welcome your comments about areas you feel we could improve on. We think its a great idea to put some snacks in the room when our guests are on our 'All Inclusive' option and from now on we will provide a selection.

With regards to the problem with flies entering the room through the doors we appreciate that this can happen especially in the height of summer so we will be searching for suitable fly curtains in to cover all the doors the our suites (the windows already have fly netting on them).

We note your concerns regarding bin liners and emptying of the kitchen bin in the Olive suite. All our bins in the bathrooms have removable solid plastic liners that we empty and clean on a daily basis. We do not put additional liners in these bins as we do not wish to increase the amount of plastic bags that enter the refuse cycle (we do however provide personal hygiene bags in every bathroom which can be used). This is also the reason we do not empty the kitchen bin daily if there is only paper, packaging etc in it (we will always change it if there is food waste etc left in the bin to avoid smells).

We hope you understand our policy on the above as we feel strongly that we should do as much as we can to limit the impact we have on the environment.

Once again thank you for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you again in the future, with fly curtains and snacks in place!!

We went there for our engagement trip (she did not know at the time). The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The B&B is ideally placed between all major touristic attractions (Malaga, Grenada, Seville, Corfoba), but a bit far from the main road. The breakfast and all the meals were a delicious blend of Spanish cuisine with a British flair. But most of all the hosting couple were incredibly nice and positive people, friendly, talkative but not intrusive; they help you relax and get in vacation mode.

NB: the owners have cute pets, we loved them but if you don't like animals, think twice.
