My family stayed in this hotel for 5 nights in Jan-14. It appeared to be very friendly, clean and warm hotel with gastronomic evening meals. The hotel is renovated, clean and very accurate. The personell is very friendly and always ready to help. It's warm in the rooms with more then enough heating to dry your clothes after ski and a good water pressure (which is not the case sometimes in chales and apartments). The free of charge bus to the Sauze d'Oulx stops just in front of hotel's entrance so it's very easy to get to the ski area.
A special mark to their cousine - some evening meals were really delicious and all house beverages included.
You can feel that people here work with soul and really try to do their best for the guests.
Those days we did not want to ski we had an excellent opportunity to visit Torino which is pretty close and can be reached by train.
Many thanks to all hotel personell for our so nice stay.
It's a really good choice for the money we paid.

It is located in the narrow old streets of the village (therefore there is some ocasional noise from cars passing by or, in the evening, from the small bar along the street, but nothing that should be seen as a problem, it is just not a silent mountain isolated location). The hotel is clean, simple, services like internet work well and staff is nice and proactive. Breakfast is good enough. Value for your Money. Parking lot is about 150 yards from the hotel.

Stayed a few days during the Giro d'Italia in May. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our 'family sized' room which was adequate for the two of us but might have been a bit cramped for anyone with older children. The decor was nicely done and the bathroom had modern fittings. Like many Italian bathrooms, the room was large but only had a smallish shower cubicle! We appreciated that the heating was fully functioning as the weather was unseasonably cold. Other major plus points - good free WiFi and a flat screen TV with international channels both free and paying.

We were disappointed that there is no restaurant off season as this was not obvious on the website when we booked. That said, there is a particularly good wine bar (Barrica) in the town which merits a separate review as both the food and wine there was excellent. The pizzeria opposite the hotel is OK but stick to beer or soft drinks there (the wine was awful). Breakfast at the hotel was fine. The night receptionist was happy to rustle up an espresso when we returned in the evening. In fact all the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The only unfortunate downside is the poor soundproofing between rooms which other reviewers have also mentioned and the strong street lighting which is not shielded at all by the curtains. Unfortunately the shutters can't be used because of window boxes on the sills. If you are a light sleeper and/or sensitive to light, this might be a problem here.

On the whole though, we enjoyed our stay and would return in future.

Room Tip: If sensitive to light (street lighting) or noise, discuss with hotel what options are available

Having read previous reviews about the convenience of this hotel for skiing we had high expectations, but was sorely disappointed. The ski bus only runs a few times a day and out of our 5 days broke down once on our way to the slopes and once did not turn up at all. Considering this bus is the only way up to Sauze this needs addressing, as it is a 20 euro cost for a taxi. The bus does not have ski racks so everyone is crammed onto a minibus with skiis and poles and the local population- it is unsafe and uncomfortable! A luggage rack on the back of the bus and more frequent service is a necessity if the hotel is to promote itself as a convenient skiing destination.Apres ski in Sauze is out of the question as the last bus is at 5.40pm!The hotel does have a communal room which needs developing into a proper bar as it is not staffed and has the atmosphere of a day centre!
The hotel is clean and our room was spacious - we started with 3 beds but chairs and spare beds arrived daily making it impossible to get to the windows or wardrobe! Our room was noisy due to road noise at the front of the hotel. Maria the receptionist is very accomodating but the head waiter in the restaurant is rude and surly.Food is served at a fast rate and dessert arrives as you are still eating main course! When asked to see the wine list I was ignored and brought wine of the waiters' choice, even though there are plenty of fantastic wines on display in the restauarant.Food is hit and miss - it sounds better on the menu than in reality. Overall, a disappointing stay which could be much better if the bus, waiter service and lack of bar was addressed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

Having found previous reviews really helpful I thought I must write my own. We stayed for 1 week with children aged 11 and 9 on a ski holiday. We have only done ski in and ski out holidays previously.
The hotel was lovely, clean, spacious and very welcoming. Staff would help regarding any problem and we did not find the language barrier a problem as there were a few receptionists that spoke English. We took the free ski bus from the hotel every morning with ease - the hotel manager saw us off. The skiing was fantastic and the return to the hotel afterwards was equally as good - the children could use the lounge and we had canapés and drinks before a lovely dinner each evening. New years eve was particularly good with a great family atmosphere!!!

My husband and 2 children, age 7 & 5, and I just spent 5 nights at the Hotel Oberje Dla Viere and had a terrific time! The staff were very attentive, friendly and more hospitable than I have experienced in other hotel, despite our some what noisy children. I highly recommend a stay here. To the staff, thank you for making us feel welcome!
