We visited tulou on Oct. 2. Road to Tulou was good and newly built. It was already 7:30pm in the evening when we arrived. There were 2 boys approached us for tickets in entering the tulou. However, it was all been arranged. Porter has been assigned for our luggages.
We stayed at FuYuLou (福裕楼). The owner greeted us warmly welcome. Assigned us to the rooms. The rooms are well ventilated and clean. Furnished with TV and desktop computer and WI-FI. Incredible!!!
After settled down, we were offered for tea while waiting for dinner to be ready. They offered few type of tea which of good quality (own hand picked made autumn tea which just harvested). Then we adjourned for dinner (Hakka cuissine which we ordered). Wow, delicious authentic dishes which was awesome. Thereafter, we had fellowship with the owner, then call it a day. There are also few family tourists (westerners and Chinese) stayed at the same unit but different floor of the circular structure.
Next morning, we heard the pork seller passing by calling for sell. We arise and walk around for fresh environment around the tulou (unique built by earth and wood which of more than 1000 years). Cooling and refresh!! Breakfast was served which has the choice of western or Chinese. We preferred Chinese authentic instead.
There are many places to roam around to witness the agriculture farming. The authenticity of the tulou is related to sustaining the tulou themselves and their traditional livings. We visited some of the families and agricultural farming (wheat, potatoes, persimmon, etc.). It was the persimmon session, we get to see how they made dried persimmon in their traditional method. No chemical or additive. Nice and sweet!!
Tulou, is applying for the world's culture heritage now. Worth the visit and experience if you are in Xiamen. Due to time constraint, we only stayed for a day. Will surely return for next visit.
