“Beautiful but with a bite!”
Reviewed August 1, 2011

Lukuba Island Lodge is beutifully situated, it has a great beach. But it also has alot of bugs, my partner said she would prefer to stay in a zip up tent then say in one of the bandas because of the number of insects. We had a scorpion in our sink one evening, and a poisnous centerped in our shower. There were catapilas all over the beach at night some making their way into our banda and then there were the lake flies during the day. It is a beautiful place but be prepared for alot of creepy crawlies.

the lodge consists of five 'bandas' on the beach so the gentle lapping of the water lulls you to sleep at night. The island is small enough to walk to the other side for a stunning sunset and back for dinner. A boat trip around the huge rock formations in the lake to see the various bird species is a good way to spend a couple of hours. The lodge has a pool but it is more of a tiny splash pool to cool off. The staff take very good care of guests and there is an arrangement with a hotel in Musoma to leave your car there for the time you are on the island. This is the place for people seeking peace and quiet and being close to nature. We loved it.
