We stayed here for 2 nights, it is good value for money. Only a short walk to the beach and close to the main road. The ground floor room was big and clean and had a hot shower. The ceiling fan was a little noisy but that is the only small negative comment. Would recommend.

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 days in Jan '13.. Yohann is a really friendly young guy helping to run his family business and bigger operators could learn a thing or two from him. The rooms are big and basic, but clean and the dinner prepared on request is really good home-cooked curry with fresh ingredients. The location is superb and Kismet was one of the best value places we encountered in SL- saying something for Mirissa.. Highly recommended!

We arrived to Mirissa from a long bus ride from Arugam bay, and ware first welcomed with torrential monsoon rain. While we ware finding shelter from the rain under a shop awning we started talking to Yohan, that suggested us to see his family guest house. And since we did not have prior confirmed reservation in Mirissa, we decided to check it out. We met his mom and brother and decided to stay. We took upstairs room with a big balcony. Room is nice and spacious and in the morning they served us breakfast at the balcony. We ware in transition so we only stayed one night, but would definitely stayed longer if we come back to Merisa. Which itself is a great place with cute cove beaches and quaint ocean front restaurants. We were there at the end of monsoon season so the sea was a bit rough, but at the right time of the year Mirissa would be the place for snorkeling and whale watching. We are thankful to Yohan, his brother and his mom for their hospitality and hope we will be back soon.

This was the cheapest place among the 6 places we stayed in Sri Lanka. We ended up here for a night after the realizing that the place we had originally booked was up on a hill.We hurriedly choose this place (I was eager to get to the beach before dusk) with the suggestion from our tuk tuk driver Big spacious room with a double bed and a single bed on 1st floor for only 1500 rp.
Wi fi connection available on request.
But the room needs to be maintained well. With a few small improvements this can be good value for money. The bed sheets and covers had spots. However upon request we were provided a new one. The fan speed is very low. Was provided an extra table fan, but that is still not enough for the Sri Lankan heat. There was no hook to hang clothes in the bathroom. And no new soap was provided.
It was okay for me for one night. But I could not have stayed longer.

We stayed at the Kismet for a week in February and felt very well looked after. It's a friendly place on a quiet road just behind the beach. They took care of laundry, boat trip booking etc. Our room was the upstairs one, which is spacious, with a big double bed plus a single bed and a nice private balcony. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting good value, quiet, friendly service and a bit more space than most places in the same price range.

Yohan and his mother run this small guesthouse. We stay there for 2 nights. The second floor has a very big balcony,we all love it! The room very spacious, looks like the owner used to be live there. The beds comfortable. But, so many bugs at night. So we have to use the mozzy net.
And, some suggest to yohan, you might be Bed sheets, quilt cover, pillow-for-one for each passenger to ensure that clean.(I hope he would see this comment and don't be sad :p)
Anyway,it's still a very lovely place to stay, now far to the beach, and very close to the main road(A2).You would easy to find some reasonable price local food.Because the restaurant in the beach really overprice.

We lived in Kismet Rest between 2 jan - 18 jan 2013. This is a small place, just two rooms and we lived in the garden room and it was a double room with bath. It is 19 year old Johan and his mother who are the host and hostess. After so many days we specially knew Johan a lot. Johan is very good to speak english so we had a lot of talks together with him. We played also different games together with Johan and we taught him yatsy and Johan was also a real magician and he shew us a couple of magics. Both Johan and his mother are very friendly people and we like them very much. Kismeth Rest is placed in a small road down to Mirissa beach and not so far from the busy road from Colombo along the cost, called Matara rd. The placed is very good because we had not so far to the bus to Weligama and not so far to the beach. Kismet Rest is a quiet place and the traffic on Matara rd was not at all disturbing. We can recommend Mirissa because it is a quiet place, not so many people and hotels as it is in Unawatuna and a very good place to live in is Kismet Rest. Kismet Rest is a good value for the money, we paid 30 USD per day including breakfast and it was peak season. When we will come back to Mirissa another year we will live in Kismet Rest,
