We had a great time in the sea. The staff in the boat made sure that we see a whale though it was not the season time for whale watching.

They made us see a whale 4 times and kept waiting for sometime if we could see more of them.
We had a great time.

Nittn from Bangalore India.

We had a wonderful boattrip with Jetwing Eco Holidays and saw many dolphins and whales. The boat was fine and clean with plenty of room and lifejackets for all. We saw other boats, where there was to many people on board.
We had booked in advance www.jetwingeco.com (no paying until we arrived) and was very satisfied.

You must use whalewatchingmirissa.com with Ganidu Rochana if you are going whale watching in Mirissa. We can echo the comments made below that you will have an amazing trip and the best chance to see these amazing animals. The crew are superb at spotting and then positioning the boat to get great views without disturbing the whales to much. The boat is very stable and you get a delicious breakfast pack and hot coffee or tea. The crew really do take good care of you and safety is uppermost. We cannot rate them highly enough - for an all round marvellous experience, with blue and sperm whales, dolphins, seabirds and flying fish. The other great thing about Ganidu is that he will arrange a bespoke trip around Sri Lanka for you, from initial airport transfer, hotels, transport between places, safaris (we did Yala, Bundala and Sinharaja parks), visits to temples, etc. Just tell him what you want and he'll sort it, no problem, and it all works like clockwork. He is totally reliable and keeps in close contact with you when you are in the country, attending to any details. He has a fantastic team of drivers and guides: Lawrence met us at the airport, Ruwan took us from Mirissa to Yala, Sanjay was a wonderful driver/guide in Yala and Bundala, Ruwan then took us to Sinharaja and thence on to Negombo before our return flight from Colombo. All extremely professional and excellent value for money. Sri Lanka is a most fabulous country and generally not commercialised. The people are very friendly and welcoming. The wildlife is amazing - in addition to the whales, we had amazing sightings of leopards and other big mammals and the birding is superb as are the butterflies and it's a botanists paradise also. There's also lots of culture to absorb - something for everyone, and you won't be disappointed!

Up at 05.00 with a packed breakfast from the hotel and then another one from the company. Now, if you suffer from seasickness, then think again but you can take a tablet from the company before you board but it can get ROUGH out there! No-one on our trip was sick! From our point of view, it was worth all the effort and every penny having seen over 20 blue whales, fin whales and numerour spinner dolphins. The crew are very, very keen and extremely good at spotting blow holes. A once in a lifetime experience and one not to be missed. Of course, it is seasonal.
Try your best to avoid the Sri Lanka Navy trips, the boats are HUGE and very crowded!
