Description: The 'Cuckoo's Nest' is another name for a mental institution, making it an appropriate name for a farang restaurant/bar in Thailand! In Sisaket, we farang have one thing in common: the cosmic bakers took us out of the oven a little too early! Whether you're crazy or not, a Farang far from home or a Thai person looking for new experiences, you're always welcome at The Cuckoo's Nest Pub & Grub. I can tell you is that my wife and I will do our best to provide a clean, fun, small "pub" where a few of "us" crazy Farangs and our Thai familys and friends can have a nice coffee, cold beer, or cocktail, and a nice meal that you might find difficult to find in this part of Isaan. Remember our motto: it's okay to be crazy, just don't let it drive you nuts! I believe we make a great selection of HOMEMADE Mexican food including Chile Verde Burritos, Chile Colorado Burritos, Black Bean & Cheese Burritos, Pork Chimichangas, Chicken or Pork Quesadillas, Pork Carnitas, Chicken or Pork Nacho Salad, Taquitos, Spicy Black Beans, Yucatan Style Salsa, our own special Fermented Chile Sauce that will surely scorch a taste bud or two, and more to come. We only offer a high quality meal, in a cozy environment that you can afford. We make a mean Spaghetti with a very rich thick homemade meat sauce. Lasagna with homemade sauce, four cheeses and our great garlic bread is sure to please. Our signature fresh 9" Pizzas, as well as Baguette Pizzas will fill your cheesy desires. The Italian Sausage Meatball Sub Sandwich is also a big hit. Steak Pies, Cornish pasties, Lamb Donner Kebabs, and delicious Bratwurst Sausages should satisfy your comfort food passions. Our all American Pulled Pork Bar B Que Sandwich is a delicious blend of slow roasted pork and our very own thick, rich and zesty Bar B Que sauce. We make great Beef and Pork Steaks in our own marinade. Pork Schnitzel with garlic dill sauce or Chicken Cordon Bleu will be difficult to choose between. We have a full selection of Salads featuring our delicious Ceasar Salad with real homemade Ceasar dressing and garlic parmesan croutons, and Soups with our Zesty New England Clam Chowder at the top of the list. We also serve a full range of delicious breakfast items. Aew, is an excellent cook with many years of experience making tasty Thai food. She continues this experience at The Cuckoo's Nest and speaks fluent English. We welcome anyone who wants to enjoy themselves and have a pleasant time. Please check bad attitudes at the curb! The Cuckoo's Nest is open 12:00 Noon to 10:00 pm or later, Tuesday - Sunday. Located just 250 Meters East of Phompiman Hotel, on the street running parallel to, and south of, the railway line.

“A great little bar.....”
Reviewed May 21, 2014 via mobile

Popped in for a Beer and Burrito and ended staying all night. Upon arrival was immediately greeted with a handshake and smile from Brian and the traditional Thai greeting from Aew. Could not have felt more welcome, cold beer, good food, good service, great conversation and cool setting. The food menu is extensive, so much to choose from! Stayed open late for me and couple of friends I met there and then gave us all a free shot of something (very nice) for the road. I will definitely return on my next visit to Sisaket. If nothing else it'll be fun to see Ratchet and her master juggling Nine puppies. Good luck with that..... all the best Brian & Aew. See you soon.

Hi Whooshbang, It was great to have you visit the Nest. We truly enjoyed meeting you and hope to get the opportunity to serve you again.
Cheers, Brian and Aew
P.S. our lovely little tramp Ratched seems to have dodged the pregnancy bullet this time....but...I'm sure there will be a puppy or two to keep you entertained next time you are in.

“Expat hangout par excellence”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

When I lived in Sisaket last year, I ate here nearly every day, sometimes more than once. You won't find Western food this good anywhere else in Sisaket, certainly not in such abundant variety, and not at such value. But the food, exceptional as it is, is only part of the experience of eating at the Nest. It's also about the camaraderie available, and the entertainment provided. Brian, an American who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Aew, has managed to make the Nest an expat hangout par excellence, with good music, weekly trivia competition, and raucous conversation with the other patrons. The food ranges over the spectrum of the standard American menu (with Thai food also available), and consists of hearty ingredients cooked to authentically American specifications. I've gone back to visit since I moved from Sisaket, and will continue to do so. I can't imagine anyone leaving the Nest hungry, and I can't imagine anyone leaving unsatisfied.

“Wasted trip, too bad”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

As we were in Isaan anyway, we traveled 100 km out of our way to Sisaket specifically to try this place. I checked to make sure they would be open before we went. Their website promised they would be open from 4-10 pm everyday Tue-Sun and there was a sign posted out front claiming the same, but they never did open. Other than getting a Mexican fix, we were depending on them to rent motorbikes, as advertised on their website. Unfortunately we couldn’t find any other place in town that rents bikes, so we were pretty stranded to our hotel area, as Sisaket is very spread out and there aren’t many tuk-tuks or taxis around. I understand that Songkran might be a difficult time to keep a business running, but if you aren’t sure you can do it, then better just announce you will be closed. In any case, it seemed like a nice little town; if I make it back there, I'll give it another shot.

Hi Whirled_Traveler74,
Please accept my sincere apology for not being open as advertised. We are out of town on holiday and had every intention of being open the hours we advertised. Unfortunately our staff disappeared on Tuesday morning without warning. We did not discover this until Tuesday afternoon, which is when you arrived. We immediately changed both our Facebook page and Website to reflect our closure until April 25, 2014, unfortunately the damage was already done to your trip to Sisaket. I hope you give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves in your eyes supply you with "Mexican Food Fix" the next time you are in the area. Sincerely, Aew & Brian

“A great place to meet some new expat friends”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

This restaurant is a hub for expats in Sisaket, especially english teachers. The menu includes thai, mexican, and american food all of which is very satisfying. The restaurant owner, Brian, always makes sure that new expats are welcome; the restaurant also throws a great birthday party.

“Sisaket's best place to get a beer or Western grub”
Reviewed February 24, 2014

This is the local hangout in Sisaket for good reason. The food is awesome, especially the bbq pulled pork sandwich and Mexican food. If you need to escape the countryside and feel back at home for a few hours this place will do the trick. I usually go in meaning to stay for just a quick bite and end up leaving as the place closes. The owner Brian is a really cool guy and makes everyone feel welcome. They do a trivia night on Wednesdays that usually has a good mix of English teachers and expats, and another good night to go is Sunday when the street out front becomes a Thai market walking street. They do a great breakfast burrito and coffee as well, so it's not just a place to go at night.
