We called to rent a particular cabin for the same night. The woman on the phone told us that one wasn't available, but one of the log cabins was, and proceeded to list of some details (number of beds, amenities etc). We said we'd like to take that one and she told us to come in to register before 9 and all would be okay (didn't ask any further information). We thought this was strange no credit card number was taken but proceeded to pack up the car and stop by the grocery store to stock up. Upon arriving to check in we said we had called ...the girl at the desk went out back and came out with the owner who told us there was nothing available and it had all been booked for weeks. We told her our phone number and she checked the phone, to confirm that we had called then told us she didn't know who told us that but there was nothing she could do for us (while the original girl at the desk hid out back). Nothing was offered to us as consollation for wasting our gas, and our time, and we left, feeling angry.

We are a family of five from Ontario and were looking for something close to Halifax and close to the a beaches. With respect to that this campground provided just that but not much else. The beach on the campsite was the highlight of the campground for the kids. The kids enjoyed the swimming and exploring the beach; however, that was about all the campsite offered for the kids. There were no activities and the playground was small. Sites are on top of each other and provide very little privacy. Four days at this site was way to long to entertain the kids which resulted in two day trips to Halifax instead of the one day we planned.
If you are visiting Nova Scotia for the maritime experience and have no young children then I would recommend this campsite. There is a lobster supper just off the property and many people we spoke with were very pleased with that experience.

First time here in Hubbard's and we thought we would go to the beach. Couldn't believe the sign that said $10. I know in Prince Edward Island they charge as the beaches are part of the provincial parks and are kept up but I never heard of this in Nova Scotia, well none of the beaches I have ever gone to anyway. There was a lady sitting by the entrance when you drove in who came right over to the truck to collect. Apparently it is privately owned. I think it is ridiculous. It wasn't even that nice of a beach we said no thanks. Much nicer beaches in many other areas that don't charge. Will not be back.

I grew up in Halifax and as a teenager we used to camp at Hubbards Beach Campground every summer for the long weekends for years & years. It is a smaller campground that offers a combination of RV Trailer space, some permanent fixtures (ie. RV's/w decks that stay the year) and tenting down the back closer to the beach.

There is a small cantine with delicious beach eats (fresh french fries, burgers & hotdogs & of course ice cream) all reasonably priced. To tent it costs around $30 or so for a weekend (fri & sat) and pets are welcome. There is a beautiful beach down the end of the campground only a 5minute walk away with white sand and clear ocean for swimming, the water is very warm at the height of the summer and continues unti the end of September.

There are usually groups of 'regulars' that enjoy this campground every weekend and if you go walking you are bound to find a couple parties going on with bonfires, music & good times. Everyone is very friendly and its easy to meet new people there. If the Bonfire & Beers is not your thing there is also a full service restaurant and dance hall on the property called The Shore Club which serves lobster dinners & hosts live music & events each weekend during the summer months.

For weekend camping with your family & pets I have found Hubbards Campground to be of good value, and we have always had lots of fun.

Well we stayed there to be close to the wedding party ,that stayed at the Rosewood. The cabin was so small you had to go outside to change your mind & that was the 2 bedroom, everything in there came a flea market including the sheets. To have 4 people in there is 2 to many, the wiring is exposed the sink & toilet are off the common area & the room with bunk beds so if someone is in the bedroom they are locked in if someone is in the bathroom. There are no railings on the top bunks so beware if you have children who could roll off. The shower is off the second bedroom so there is little to no privacy. There is only a pad lock on the outside of the door so if you are inside the cabin there is no way to lock it. We had two girls who needed to get ready and no room to do it. This place was a total and utter rip off and we would highly suggest you look somewhere else. There is only a hotplate to cook on & you can't drink the water because of arsenic!!! and they only provide drinking water at one site on the campground.I should have known when I booked it & they billed me right away oh & good luck if you try and cancel, even if you give them adequate notice!!!
