Description: I am surprised this Taverna has not been reviewed before as it is long established, always full and really good value. It is located in a small side street just behind the harbour road, next to Lisa's Place and the Harbour Lights Bar. It is a traditional family run taverna which cooks either fresh for you, from the Souvlaki Grill or from a number of pre-cooked dishes which you can view in the kitchen. The prices are really good too. And because it is always busy it has a good atmosphere - Ok the views aren't as good as the harbour side, but you can eat well here for value and then go for a walk and drink at the harbour later.

“A Touch of the Traditional”
Reviewed July 14, 2014

It used to be common practice to go into the kitchen of a Greek taverna and explore the possibilities. In Lakka, for some time, this has been an option at Nionios taverna which is in danger of becoming a sort of theme park.
In the next square - strangely Edward Kenedy square- the recently established Alexandros has a authenticity which attracts many Greeks, both local and on holiday. it is very much family run and debating the options - preferably in Greek - in the kitchen is a must. The κουνέλι στιφάδο (rabbit stifado) is very good. You will be offered roast potatoes - but rice soaks up the lovely sauce better. Good retsina, ouzo or tsiporo.

“A really Greek restaurant”
Reviewed July 8, 2014

This is a typical Greek restaurant situated in a quiet sheltered courtyard and where you will be invited into the kitchen to view the menu which is quite vast. The welcome is warm and the food is excellent, we eat here several times in our 2 week stay.

“Lovely Welcome, Great Food”
Reviewed June 10, 2014

Alexandros and his wife are wonderful hosts and make you feel really welcome. You'll often get an invite in to the kitchen to see what he's cooking, and everything's very authentic and homely.

Alexandros gets my number 1 vote in Lakka because of his demeanour, friendly but never pushy, and he sometimes comes and sits with you with some Grappa as well. Best Big Beans on the Island!

“Really a three and a half star restaurant”
Reviewed June 1, 2014

Alexandros is situated down one of Lakka's streets, so doesn't really have the wow factor location wise. However, the food is generally very good, and very tasty. Our only grumbles were that the food was served lukewarm, which I know is a characteristic of Greek food, but this could have been hotter, and also we thought the mushroom starter was a bit expensive at 10.50 euros.
