We were meeting friends for a surprise birthday. The staff were wonderful and helped keep the secret. The waiting staff are excellent and the food is too. I can be a bit of a bar humbug where restaurants are concerned but this one really had it all.

The restaurant is run by the Vaccani family who previously ran the Restaurant Belvedere at Torno for the past 44 years.

It's great to be welcomed by Mama Ivonne, Carlo and Laura, with the same team in the kitchen and serving. It's also a great relief to know that you can still count on quality, fresh food and a genuine warmth of welcome. Standards are as high as before the move, the dishes are still generous in portion size and very tasty, and the service is impeccable. The wine list offers good choices, and the prices are very reasonable.

The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays, and open for lunch and dinner on all other days. I would recommend you reserve in advance if possible, but if the restaurant is full, the family will still do their utmost to fit you in! If your Italian needs brushing up, Carlo and Laura will be able to help you by speaking French, German and English, always with the widest of smiles and concern to make sure you enjoy your meal to the full.

Even if you aren't staying at the hotel in which the restaurant is situated, it's worth a trip here for a meal. There's plenty of parking, and the restaurant is well signed from the main road that runs between Bellagio and Como. It is however, further down the road than google maps would have you believe, so take the hairpin bends VERY carefully, and drive to the very far end of the village. It's worth it in every way ... and yes, even vegetarians will be delighted ... as there's plenty for them to enjoy including the tasty Spaghetti alla Belvedere which is the restaurant's signature dish, and is Mama Ivonne's secret recipe ... which I haven't been able to wheedle out of her for the past 18 years, but still enjoy every mouthful!

Like in many establishments in this area, owner take personal ownership of your experience, and that wins them half the battle. He may never know of this review, because he "does not believe in the internet and those things". However called on short notice, he gave surefire instructions to his place and assured he had a specila table set up for us.
We were greeted personally like celebrities, and taken to a lakeview terrace.
We ordered lake efish appetizers, a single serving that was abundant even to share and then pasta with fish sauce and grilled lake carp. Wine list simple but spanning most of the Italian peninsula.
I imagine it should be avoided in full summer weekends, because it should be packed.
