Description: The Adzuki Bean is the love bean. In ancient times, a man went away to war. His wife waited for him under a big tree on a high mountain. Till he returned, she missed him so much her flowing tears turned to blood. The bright blood drops became red seeds, and the seeds germinated and rooted, growing into a big tree full of red berries.Slowly the red berries on the big tree joined with the wife's heartache, to become heart-shaped - the Adzuki Bean, the most beautiful bean in the world. Hard as a diamond, red as blood, shaped like a pulsating heart, glittering and transparent, dazzling the eyes. In China, the Adzuki Bean is precious like jade, and signifies spirituality and luck. It can always bring good luck in love.Adzuki Bean Cafe & Restaurant wishes you the very best luck - in life as in love.

“A nice surprise”
Reviewed July 4, 2012

We came in here on a Wednesday evening unexpectedly, as we searched for somewhere to have dinner along Jackson Street. We decided to try Adzuki as we hadn't been in for a couple of years (since they refurbished, I think they've also changed hands), and we also wanted to make use of the Entertainment book special offer (gold card 25% off total bill).
We were their first customers for the evening. The waitress was very attentive, and took good care of us.
We ordered the breads & dips to share to start, which came out within 10 minutes of ordering. The dips were nice, but the breads were a bit on the stale side (I think they may have been pre-frozen).
Hubby ordered the Beef Wellington, and requested medium. It arrived fairly rare, but he still enjoyed it (and couldn't finish it!), it was a very generous portion.
I ordered the fish of the day which was fresh Salmon with potato gratin served on baby bok choy. This was also very nice, but the fish was slightly undercooked so it turned cold quite quickly. Loved the flavours on the plate and was generally satisfied.
We didn't order dessert, as we didn't need it - but the menu had some very nice options.
The décor of the place is a lot different to how it was previously, I think they're going for more of a cafe feel during the day and restaurant by night.
All in all it was a pleasant evening. We will no doubt return. The price was very reasonable with the entertainment book discount, around $60. This included the shared entrée, 2 mains and 2 glasses of $10 wine.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed March 3, 2012

We visited Adzuki Bean as a group of 6 on a Friday night and every table was full. Luckily we had reserved. The service was friendly and efficient and were soon sipping on drinks while we perused the menu. The menu does not have a lot of items, but everybody found several things to their liking, and there were 5 different dishes ordered. All of the dishes were nicely presented and everybody enjoyed them. There was a good range of deserts and again these were very well received. We will certainly eat here again.
