Description: Merridale is a delicious destination in Cowichan —an apple orchard, craft cider house, small batch distillery, and wedding and event venue. Our authentic Vancouver Island restaurant combines cider and spirit pairings with a farm to table inspired menu, and our artisan bakery crafts fresh baked goods made with our cider leaven in brick ovens. Savour house-made delicacies such as sausages, cured meats, salad dressings, breads, and pies - then pick some up at the farm store to take home! Enjoy a true island experience from your table on the covered deck overlooking the orchard and fresh herb and vegetable garden. Or join us for one of our special dinners – pizza nights with live music, mystery spirit cask dinners, and so much more.

As soon as we saw Merridale we knew it would be the perfect location for our wedding. Our subsequent visits and meetings only reinforced this feeling. The Merridale staff were nothing but helpful and made it easy to plan our wedding from Calgary. Everything from the food to the cider to the decor was perfect. Our guests gave great reviews too!

I definitely recommend spending the night in the yurt. It was a relaxing way to end the evening and breakfast the next day was delightful.

We had our wedding reception at Merridale, and I can honestly say it was the best day of our lives, and I know it won't have been possible without Merridale's staff members.
Since the beginning before the actual day, Heather and Jess were always very helpful and patient with all our requests. We were happy at the day of the wedding to have Magali there, as our family (spanish speaking) came from our home country El Salvador, and all they would speak that day was spanish. When we arrived at the day of the wedding we had some last minute request and Jess with no hesitation took care of it. The food was amazing, our guests couldn't stop talking about how good it was. Out wedding cake was made there, and it was the most beautiful cake i've ever seen. We also stayed at the Yurt for our wedding night and it was perfect, beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
It was a small wedding with only family and close friends, about 40 people total. It was really perfect, all I can remember about that day is happiness all night long.

How to describe an amazing experience...

We first met Jess and her assistants Heather and Heather about a year before our wedding. We were nervous engaged adults, with many ideas and hopes about our wedding. Jess sat down with us and quickly assuaged any doubts we had by explaining to us how our wedding reception would enfold. She listened to our ideas and made notes, suggesting how we could make them become realities.

When we first planned to have the reception at Merridale, our estimated number was at 120. By the night of the wedding, it was closer to 129, with children and babies. We had maxed out the reception area. But Jess and her team rose to the challenge. Our tables were served delicious food, drinks kept flowing, and all was merry!

We had guests with mobility issues; Jess brought out the golf cart and let a few of the guests - even a couple who might have gotten by without - ride down to the lake in style. I heard from many of my guests that they loved their food, and enjoyed the appetizers down by the lake.

Before our wedding we dined at Merridale a couple of times. Great food every time. I was so excited to have my reception at Merridale because of the food. Guests at weddings will remember two things: decorations and food. Merridale helped out with decorations. Beautiful white lanterns and strings of lights adorned the eating area. And well, the food as always was amazing!

After eating, we danced inside. Since we didn't have a live band, we opted out of dancing outside. However, we dined with friends during Valentine's and the building is set up nicely for acoustic instruments. The staff ensured there was plenty of water out for the guests. And lots of punch. That's so important: how many events have you been to and it's impossible to get a drink of water?! Merridale made everything so enjoyable.

We had wonderful weather, but just in case, Jess had blankets ready for our guests in case it got cold. At the end of the night, we put one last song on. With a little prodding, the kitchen staff and waiters danced with us. Just goes to prove how friendly the staff is!

If you ever want a little of Merridale's Cider, but can't make it to Cobble Hill, it's available at the BC Liquor stores and some of the local liquor stores in Victoria BC. Our favourites are the cyser and House!

We are definitely going back to Merridale. Do we regret anything? Well, the only thing I would say is choosing to not have the ceremony at Merridale, too.

Our wedding was amazing! We have received so many compliments from our family and friends. Some guests said it was the nicest wedding they have ever been to. We ended up with beautiful weather, impeccable service, and amazing food. We spent the night in the yurt and had a wonderful fresh breakfast served in the morning. We are both looking forward to our next visit down there!

I have been to Merridale 3 times this summer and always enjoyed the food. While the service may be a tad on the slow side, and the waiters tend to be forgetful, it is a wonderful place, and the food we had was fantastic.
