Owner description: Curracloe Beach is a regular holder of the Blue Flag Beach status. The dunes are currently the subject of an active conservation policy by Wexford County Council ensuring that this marvellous amenity and the plant and wildlife it contains, will be preserved for future generations. A nature trail runs through the dunes and continues for 5 km to Raven Point, passing through the beautiful peninsula which constitutes Raven Nature Reserve.

There is never a bad time to visit Curracloe and when you leave you are already thinking about your next trip back to this magnificent beach.

My favourite way to experience Curracloe is to walk through the woods only to emerge onto the beach, walk the length up past blackwater and then back. Whether the waves are crashing in or gently caressing moistened sands as they roll across the beach, it is a special corner of the world.

Now there's one review that didn't mention Speilberg or Saving Private Ryan (damn it!).

How many people know that County Wexford boasts some of the best - and most varied - beaches in Ireland? This has to be one of the most stunning. County Wexford has two contrasting coastlines - in the south that of the Celtic Sea (Atlantic) and in the east the Irish Sea. Curracloe is on the eastern seaboard. The sand is almost white, and searchers for seashells will be delighted with the treasures that they will find here, the varieties changing as you head southward.

You can walk for miles ... and miles .... and miles. In the end you come to Raven Point and the Wildlife reserve. And because the prevailing wind is from onshore, the water is often calm. No more than a gentle swell.

I think it was here that they filmed the Normandy beach scenes in 'Saving Private Ryan' (I couldn't watch more than the first twenty minutes of that one - the carnage was just too awful. And I write as a retired doctor who was very familiar the traumatic injury cases in his time).

Lovely place. Visit it before you head off down to Wesk Cork and Kerry. And visit all the other lovely beaches the county has to offer as well. You'll enjoy better weather here too than you will in the West!

Lovely breathtaking sandy beach - stretching for miles along wexford coast. Even in the height of summer there is merely a handful of people on the beach - no tripping over towels or sunbeds here !

Lacking any facilities. this beac is a lovely scenic place but because it is a distance from the nearest town more facilities would help encourage it as adestination. the private Ryan conection should be publicised more also. there is great potential.
