Upon arrival we were offered tea, coffee and sweet bread. The room was very nice, the land the house sits on is just beautiful! It's like a paradise. Beautiful garden, nice statues, a river runs through the property. The hostess was very friendly, talked to us about the family history and how the B&B came to be. The breakfast was also nice. The internet though, could be improved. You have to be in the hallway to get connected. That's the only complaint we have.

Fabulous old house decorated in an eclectic way full of history and local sports. Hospitality of times past. Large comfy rooms to relax with a billiards table that my son was delighted with. Bedroom was massive and so too with the en suite. Bedclothes high quality. For such a large house and only two rooms occupied it was perfectly heated. Breakfast made to order was so much better than any hotel served in an elegant dining room. Hats off to Breda, and also to welcoming John. Gardens are fabulous. Look no further. Fabulous value. We will be back.

I booked Ballyboy as I was attending a birthday dinner in the Old Convent restaurant and according to trip advisor, Google maps and booking.com this b&b was situated right next door near the town centre.. At only €40 & some decent reviews I was delighted with myself. I drove to clogheen from the waterford side and it was a very dark evening. I would be slightly familiar with clogheen and a few kms from the village I passed an old sign for Ballyboy but presumed it was a sign to state that it was up ahead. Drove to where the sat mac brought me and it slowly dawned on.me that I had in fact passed it earlier on 3kms out. A quick chat with a local confirmed.this. I was livid as I could have just not bothered to stay overnight and just not drank at all. When I got to Ballyboy I told them I had only booked due to the location advertised and was told yes they sometimes do that. I asked was there a taxi service in the village (there was but it would be coming from Cahir and possibly cist me a fortune) but in fairness to John and Breda they offered to take me in and collect me again afterwards. The room was lovely, warm.and cosy and the breakfast was fab. Ballyboy is a charming place and if you want a walking weekend in the nearby mountains it's a perfect base to start from

The host is wonderful. She makes you feel so at home. The place is in itself a place to explore.....a river, gardens, woods and a lake all in ballyboy house. The rooms are spacious and the beds are lovely. No wifi or Tv so its a real get away from the hustle of the city. A place to stay if you are on yr way there.

Wonderful comfy room lots of sunlight, double glazed windows which opened. Well decorated. Afternoon tea was laid out in the sitting room for us where was a wood fire lit. Owners were very helpful they gave us a lift into the local pub and picked us up again. Breakfast very filling. Owners very informative about the surrounding hills and countryside. We were told that the house was 500 years old and that Oliver Cromwell stayed there.

The owners said that the River Tar flows through their property and is rich with Trout and they have fishing rights for it.

Will definitely will be back, but for longer next time :-)
Perfect location for hillwalking. We walked the Knockmealdown county top the very next day.

Room tip: Ask for the four poster bed!!!
