Top quality self-catering accommodation with amazing views. Well placed to explore the Sheep's Head and Mizen Peninsulas. Attached to a restaurant but very quiet and self contained. Excellent all round.

We came here immediately after our wedding, just to relax in peaceful surrounds.
We stayed in Blairs Cove 2, a small self-catering apartment. This was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. The modernity of the layout fitted in with the lovely location and gardens.
Breakfast was delivered to us each morning by friendly staff.
Although the restaurant was not open during our stay, we were recommended a local restuarant which was excellent.

We stayed for 2 nights in BC3 for our wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful place, and the accomdation is well laid out and spotless. Breakast is great as well. We really had a very relaxing time and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Couple of small things to note. No mobile phone reception, no local TV access (freeview which was only BBC and ITV) and no internet access. Wifi would be very handy to be able to check things like a local weather forcast.

It is DARK out there in remote west cork at night. I tripped getting across the pitch black cobbled courtyard when we came home after being in Bantry for the evening. Bring a torch in the car.

Nobody was about when we were checking in, so we were a bit lost when we first arrived, despite the note and the key being left out. We had made the booking months previously, so weren't sure what time we had booked dinner for, where breakfast was supposed to be served... what all the dials were for in the kitchen etc. We had a chat in the restaurant though and they were able to answer our questions about dinner and breakfast. (Breakfast is brought to your kitchen in the morning). Never quite figured out what the 2 temperature dials were for, but I had a very cold shower one morning, so maybe those needed to be set on or something?

Beware, they certainly know how to charge for this lovely environment. It is expensive for a place with very few modern amenities. 520 euro for 2 nights B&B.

My family and I stayed at Blairs Cove from 3rd July 2010. We left early as we were utterly disgusted with what we found.

We paid for ‘The Cottage’ which came to over 1200 euro – we paid the deposit which was half – I then receive an email telling me that they had debited my card for the remaining balance – no asking or warning before hand just took it – this is illegal.

When we arrived we found out by looking at a sheet of paper in the utility room that said they were charging 30c per unit for electricity!!!!! ESB charge 0.1455 per unit – they are actually making a profit on energy and I truly believe this is not allowed in any way.

They also then state on another piece of paper that they charge you 8 euro per bag of rubbish you have to take away!!!! The bags were pedal bin size and there were four of us – 2 children!!!! We certainly were not told any of this before we arrived!

The swings in the back garden were a joke – planks of mouldy wood splinters coming off them and rusty chains – I wouldn’t let me kids any where near them.

The place was dirty also – place mats for the table covered in old food – disgusting – rust in the sink upstairs.

These two people prey on tourists – we are from Ireland and we have stayed in luxury accommodation all over the world 5 star plus – this is in no way luxury in any respect.

It is sad because a lot of Americans were there and they clearly think that this is normal and that you should pay for all this stuff and that this is how ireland is – and that its normal price for utilities!!! It is not! And because we are from here we know how much it really costs for things like this and they are making a profit on it!

We left early on the Wednesday we were supposed to stay until the Saturday but we had already spent 71euro on gas and electricity in two days!!!!!! It was cheaper for us to leave!

Poor tourists that don’t know any better.

Be Warned!!!! Bring lots of money with you!!!!!

My advice stay somewhere that is actually luxury

I've been coming to Blairs Cove for the last 5 or 6 years and each and every time I stay or just eat there it's been excellent.

The setting to start with is fantastic with beautiful views up Dunmanus Bay and being at the start of the sheepshead peninsula means that the most fantastic drives/walks/villages are right on the doorstep.

The accommodation is gorgeous, the 5 or 6 suites are all different but all beautifully finished with great views.

The restaurant is always a highlight - constantly changing menu, great variety on in the starters buffet - fabulous quality. (Been here for a wedding and even for a big group every dish was to the same high standard)

It's as much a destination now for me as somewhere to stay while visiting this beautiful part of the world

I came here from Clonakilty with no expectations. I had heard on the restaurant and knew it has a good reputation but knew little of the bijou appartment accomodation here. Myself and my wife had a great split level single room appartment with split level living downstairs and a cut-away bedroom upstairs. A long window over the two floors affords a stunning view of the inlet. On the other side is a beautifully tended mature walled garden.

The shower is large and has power shower settings. If there is a criticism the bed is not very comfortable and the modernist layout and blinds make it difficult to sleep after sun rise.

The propropieters are helpful and accomodating. The kitchen is well equiped to cater for up to four people and after eating out for almost a week it was a joy to be able to cook for ourselves again. The kitchen is well designed and kitted-out and the quality of the cooking implements unusually high (haven't had a heavy bottomed saucepan before).

We are eating in the restaurant tonight and leaving early tomorrow. It is safe to say we'll be back.

As for activities, we went into Bantry for groceries and Schull for activities (tennis court is free and open to the public). We also took the absolutely sensational drive over the top of the Caha mountains to beautiful Kenmare in Co. Kerry. Highly, highly recommended.

Sheep's head drive is worth doing as is the trip to Malin Head. I would suggest going to the head and enjoying the drive out before heading to Crookhaven for lunch. I had the best crab I have ever had in the Crookhaven Inn opposite the harbour. Follow this up with a dip in Barley Cove - the waves are amazing and the water invigorating and warmer than you might expect.

Blairs Cove is a real gem. I'm so glad we found it. Our first stay definitely won't be our last.

Our stay at Blairs Cove was truly memorable...from the immaculately yet homely decoration of the spacious apartment and the beautiful courtyard to the sumptuous breakfast brought to the room to the roaring open fire.

If there were just two things that could be improved...
The first is the bedding: Strangely the duvets and pillows weren't hugely comfy. Considering no expense was spared renovating the apartments, I think the bedding could have been much more luxurious.
And secondly.. Wifi in the apartments would be a huge plus! Especially as phone signals are non existent!

Overall however, Blairs Cove was fabulous and the stunning scenery was so picturesque. The staff and owners were extremely helpful and lovely and the restaurant on site is also definitely worth a trip.
