I live in Ratoath and occasionally book Flemingtown House on behalf of friends or business colleagues. While I've never stayed there myself, I have had a look around the common areas. It appears to be a very homely, 'olde worlde' country house type of place - lots of comfy chairs, nick knacks and a snooker table. Everyone I know who's stayed there raved about the hospitality and the breakfast.
Flemingtown House is walking distance from nowhere but a short drive or taxi ride from Ratoath village or Fairyhouse Racecource. However, aside from a couple of nice pubs in Ratoath village, there really isn't a whole lot to see or do in the area. If you're keen to explore Meath, I'd probably recommend staying in the towns of Trim, Slane or Dunboyne.
