Vesali Resort Hotel

Was booked in for 4 nights but left after one. Room needed updating and cleanliness was not to my standard. Restaurant food was really good and service very accommodating. Moved because the bed was too uncomfortable. Soft foam that bottomed out on plywood. Not good enough value for $45. Highly recommend the new Royal City bungalows in town.

We quite enjoyed our stay at the Vesali resort - very simple, clean and functional accommodation in a beautiful garden setting. A path from the back of the hotel leads to the hilltop Pagoda with the most amazing view of the ancient ruins of Mrauk U. The staff were really friendly, concerned and attentive - we had to leave at 4 am to catch our boat and most of the hotel staff were up for us, preparing breakfast boxes and lighting our way with torches. However, I have three negative points - firstly, the hotel is outside of the town and it's quite a walk to the nearest restaurant (although the hotel does offer food). Secondly, the breakfast is quite poor - the usual Asian take on a continental breakfast i.e. bad, bad toast, an egg and instant coffee, with no soups or other local options offered. Thirdly, and most importantly, the generator noise is very loud from all parts of the hotel - ear plugs are essential and the noise could really ruin your stay here.

Unfortunately for its owner, this place should now be avoided at all costs since the very noisy town genrators across the road now operate from 5 am to 3pm and from 5pm to 11pm.

Very hard to relax as they can be heard from everywhere inside or outside the -decent- rooms.

The positive reviews from the LP guidebook are made obsolete by this relatively new development.

Nice staff but they sell overpriced trip to the Chin tribes. Food is OK if you can stand the rumbling noise...

It was a good choice. Rainy season, september 2011. No travelers. The hotel consists in different wood-made bungalows and the surroundings are splendid. No electricity, just from 6 to 9 pm, but they solve the problem with batteries and you have some light in the room. You are outside the village, not too far, within walking distance. Rooms are comfortable and have bathroom en suite. You feel like living in the same town. Service is outstanding. You may choose what you like to eat and they are always ready to help you. Simple kitchen, like in the burmese homes. Even being there during the rainy season, it's the right place to stay in Mrauk U.

Room Tip: No differences in room tips.

Electricity in Mrauk U is provided by a generator working for just three hours a day, from 6 to 9. This basic but charming resort doesn't have its own generator, but some light is available along the nights through batteries. Hot water is not available full time either, but is abundant in the morning and the evening.
If these inconveniences are not a problem for you, this hotel is a good option. It is well located, within walking distance to the village and some restaurants. At the hotel they serve dinner and local breakfast, which are quite good. Service is attentive and friendly. Rooms are basic, but clean, with private terraces and chairs facing a nice garden.

This family hotel consists of bungalows with two rooms, each room has two beds and a bathroom en suite. On the hotel grounds there is lush vegetation, a bamboo planting, above which a simple pagoda, and next to it is a little lake. It is close by interesting sites. Service is friendly and all wishes are easily met, be it meals, laundry etc. The proprietor speaks decent English and so does the cook, a former pop-star, who performs culinary miracles in her kitchen as well. The kitchen is very simple, the cuisine is beyond belief. The hotel and its staff exude friendliness, quiet in a very simple and traditional Burmese environment.
