I haven't had a beach experience like at Las Lajas Beach Resort. The beach is miles long and at low tide you can walk forever. How about viewing humpback whales, and all kinds of birdlife. Offshore are Islas Secas and other islands almost to Coiba.
The breakfasts are super, lunches are good, supper is ok. They often use frozen langostina and camarones. They can be found fresh very easily.
The rooms are adequate. The pool is very nice, as is the service.
I will go back for the wonderful beach and the homey atmosphere.
Prices are very reasonable..

Room Tip: Stay in rooms 1-6, still beachfront but away from the music. The upstairs suite is also very nice.

We are always happy to welcome people like you that truly enjoy the beauty of our beach and all the treasures of nature. And of course it is important to us you enjoyed our food, the pool, our service and homey atmosphere. Thank you for your recommendation about the seafood.
Most of the times we buy frozen langostinos and shrimps of an high and constant standard because it is not easy to get it fresh regularly in the quantities we need and even more difficult to get the shrimps of the right size and the right quality we require.

Stayed three nights in September. The rooms are very clean. Hot showers. A/C worked great. Staff is very friendly. Bar and restaurant was really good. Foods great and drinks are good as well. Pool was very nice. Beach was awesome. Had a great stay and recommend. I'm a smoker and never had any problems. I smoked in the areas they had and nobody gave me any grief.

Thank you for your excellent recommendation! We are glad that you as a smoker felt very comfortable here. In Panama there is a strict law about smoking and we are following these rules. And at the same time we try to make everybody happy!

This small but friendly hotel is gem in this part of the world. The friendliest staff we have ever encountered and they will bend over backwards for you to help out. The restaurant is also one of the best in the area with a varied menu with fresh fish and seafood almost daily. You come to this area primarily for the pristine beach and not regular hotel services and entertainment. The pool is a little small but great for the kids and you can watch them from the bar/restaurant but you are right on the safest beach! HELLO! They have improved the internet connection service since last years visit and now it is much more reliable. The term 'resort' is a little misleading compared to what we North Americans are used to, but if you come here it is to relax on the beach with peace and quiet, walk for miles with no rocks, stingrays, devlopment highrises or other 'nasties', this is for you.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms are exactly the same layout and at ground level so not much difference between any of them.

The staff feels really proud to read that they could make you feel so good and that you in fact truly enjoyed everything we offer. And true we are not an all inclusive big resort at a crowded beach but in stead a 14 room beach resort with a homey personel atmosphere and all amenities you need to relax and have a wonderfull stay. Besides the pool and the kilometers long beach we also offer bodyboards and bicycles for rent, horseback ride tours, tours the the indigenous community, hikes, manicure & pedicure, etc.
We hope to see you next year again!

This is basic hotel (in my opinion, 2 star) on a beach in Panama. it is not a resort destination. Although the staff are nice, there are many shortcomings with the property:
- There is no 24 hour front desk
- No room service
- Hot water is unreliable (it comes and goes, comes and goes, because it is based on a gas heater inside each room),
- The shower gives you a tiny bit of water only
- Internet is unreliable
- The room does not have rugs next to the bed, and since no slippers are provided, you need to walk on the floor from the bathroom to the bed on a cold ceramic floor,

If you like a very basic experience, away from everything, this is for you. If you on the other hand expect basic luxuries, then I do not recommend this place at all.

I know most people when reading a review like this will see how inconsistent it is with the other reviews around it and dismiss it, but some times they are so petty and ridiculous that they have to be responded to. First of all this is the second review he wrote, the first said we had sand floors, (nothing could be further from the truth, it is either tiled or is lawn with a cement driveway) and gave us 1 star. Now after some prompting from Trip Adviser to show that he was actually here, he was forced to give some details and suddenly we now average 3 stars. I know from past expierences that these types of reviews are usually prompted by being told they couldnt do something such as smoke, play loud music on the beach or make noise in the pool after 10:00, etc. BUT truthfully no one here remembers who he/they were, not myself, not the management, or the employees. His email address does not appear on any of our room registration forms, and we require one. So we dont even know if he ever actually stayed here, but assuming he did lets examine his points.

First, he says we are not a resort, a resort is defined as "a place that is a popular destination for vacations or recreation, or which is frequented for a particular purpose".....ie. a seaside resort. We may not be a disney or 5 star European resort and we dont purport to be one but I dont think most travelers would think thats the real Pasnama they are looking to see.

As for 24 hour desk and room service. I have stayed in many places in Panama our size or much larger and have never seen a 24 desk or room service, our reception is open from 6:30 am to approximately 10:30 pm, then a night guard is there to handle emergencies, not to get you something like warm milk and cookies.

Hot water in the rooms can be a problem. First let me say they are gas heaters and our contractors gave us bad info when we decided to install them....but we have been able to make them work, the big problem is even thought there are clear instructions on how to use them, people keep turning the switches to the wrong positions and this makes them not work as effeciently. As for water pressure, our water comes down hill from a 50 feet elevation and then is pressurized so there is plenty of water pressure in the shower.

Any one who has spent time in Panama or some other same economically developed countries knows that many things are unreliable and internet is one of those things. Even though the owner of the internet provider lives on the beach (and he relies on it too) we cannot guarantee that it will work all the time. If you had an emergency we can most always get a connection by other means.

The rugs on the floor around the bed sounds like a good idea, but the slippers (where did you get slippers for $70 a night) seems a little rediculous as people come here to wear sandles or go bare foot, there are mats outside the door. As for the cold floors, the average temperature here is 80 to 100 degrees year round, but when you use your AC 24 hours a day, even when you arent in the room....the floor is going to be cold.

Very comfortable, clean, and nice location on the beach. Restaurant is excellent, and the service was great. Beach access is right from the resort, with miles of sandy beach to enjoy. Nice, but small swimming pool and grassy area by the beach.
