Went along here for the Sunday carvery and wasn't disappointed. There were five in our group and we went along without a prior booking and took a chance on getting a table. We were directed to the dining room and told to ask for the Manageress. There was a bit of a lengthy delay before she appeared and we were finally seated and given the dining procedure. It was about 3.30pm when we arrived so the starters and sweet selection were a bit depleted by that stage but there was still enough variety to satisfy. We had a selection of starters followed by some really tasty vegetable soup - all good so far no complaints there. For main course I had a large slice of lamb and also some baked ham with a selection of fresh veg and great creamy mashed potatoes the roast potatoes were'nt great though- too well dried out and pretty much inedible.
Sweet for me consisted of lemon meringue and a scoop of ice cream, there was black forest gateuxe, various cheesecake, lemon torte, strawberry gateuxe and several other sweets still available, the lady at the sweet servery could have been a little more pleasant and generous with the helpings but otherwise fine. Tea and coffee followed along with a shortbread biscuit. The staff are really friendly and efficient and things generally ran fairly smootly with the service. The cost per head was 17 euros which is I thought was excellent value. The atmosphere is very relaxed in the Dining room and lounge and we were in no hurry to leave, nor indeed were we rushed by the staff which can happen at some establishments on a Sunday.
Thanks Ballyliffen Lodge Hotel great location, views and staff, nice lunch well enjoyed by all we'll be back soon hopefully.

Was really looking forward to my return visit to this lovely, relaxing, friendly hotel. My Husband & I were not disappointed. It was our Wedding Anniversary & we were allocated a lovely room with superb views of the very rough sea! Just love coming here as the hotel is spotlessly clean, all staff very helpful, food is lovely & great value for money. The leisure facility's are very good also. We were staying on 27th & 28th Jan 13 on a Groupon deal. It was great to see the hotel so full especially during a recession. Well done Ballyliffin, hopefully it won't be long until we return:)

Just returned from this hotel after staying for a two night groupon deal. We upgraded to one of the two luxurious suites with a massive jacuzzi in the room overlooking the bay with a total of three sea views! (room 116) Well worth the extra money. Hotel was spotless, staff very helpful and friendly and enjoyed delicious warm scones with little pots of fresh cream and jam with a pot of tea in Jacks Bar after a cold walk in the afternoon. We also ate that night in Jacks Bar and found the food to be excellent and extremely good value for money. We arrived on Sunday in time for the carvery which was also was excellent value at 13.50 euro each for two courses. (Three courses available, but dont think we could have managed it!)
An excellent stay and cant think of any negatives at all, we will be back!

Bedrooms and the public rooms are excellent, as is the leisure centre, but the food is a major let down! Treated by our kids and we upgraded to an executive room which was superb. Enjoyed the whole place, the pub grub was reasonable but the main restaurant was poor. The waiting staff were inexperienced, and the tables lacked dressing.

On a two day mid-week groupon offer my wife and I really hit the jackpot with this hotel. Stunning location close to beach with excellent walks. All staff at reception, restaurant, bars and chambermaids make your stay very enjoyable with high levels of professionalism in their respective roles coupled with a very warm welcome. Standard room is very comfortable, large king size bed and single bed. For a real treat consider upgrading to superior or executive room with sea views and extras. Range of food available in bar and restaurant is excellent quality and value prepared to a very high standard by the chef. Leisure facilities are first class swimming pool, sauna, steamroom and jacuzzi are all well maintained and free to guests. We highly recommend this hotel for any kind of stay.

Room Tip: consider superior or executive room for superb seaview
