“Pure Luxury”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

My husband and I recently spent a night in Moorfield Lodge for our 1st wedding Anniversairy and we really didn't want to leave! The lodge deserves it's 5* rating even due to its gorgeous rural setting with large lawns, stretching driveway, trees and surrounding mountains. Our host Lin was warm, welcoming and very friendly who put us at ease straight away and ensured that if there was anything we may require just to let her know. Upon signing in Lin greeted us with her home baked scones with tea which were delicious! Our room was the spa suite at the Lodge and we were not disappointed. With the living area, wide screen television, cream carpets, large windows, beautiful white linens and of course the luxurious jacuzzi bath for two it was the perfect choice for a romantic night away. Everything was to perfection and we could not have asked for a more perfect wedding anniversairy!
Breakfast was a real treat due to Lin's exquisite talent for cooking. I would recommend that everyone tries the home made Granola and Fruit crepe- absolutely delicious! My husband had the full Irish Breakfast which Lin cooked to his preference and he said it was one of the nicest he's had in a long time. We were also given a Congrautlations card from Lin and her Husband which we found to be a lovely touch to the end of a perfect stay.

We can't thank Moorfield Lodge enough for making our special day exactly what we wanted it to be and can't wait to come back again!

Room Tip: If looking for something special the Spa Suite is recommended!

Ah Roisin, what a fantastic review, and most appreciated. Glad you liked my breakfasts - I love cooking and it is a pleasure to cook for people like you ! Please come back again, you do so much for my ego! lol The lawns are looking gorgeous with all the sunshine and a little bit of rain here and there; the views of Loch Swilly ever changing and so stunning. The Spa suite is great but so is the Bayview which is just as big, with the Classic suite being our smallest but it still has the same quality finishes and linen. We look forward to having you back too, so please don't leave it too long. There is so much to see in this area, you need at least 3 nights!
Take care till then. :)

My wife and I have just returned from a weeks stay at Moorfield Lodge. Without a doubt it has to have been the best Hotel or B and B we have ever stayed in.
From the moment we arrived to the day we left we were treated to 5 star attention.
The room was perfect with the most magnificent view.Breakfast was varied and superb.
But no review would be complete without mentioning our hosts Lin and Bobby. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect, from advising where to go and where to eat,to sharing some of their time with us, it was very much appreciated. We would have no hesitation in recommending Moorfield Lodge as a first class venue.

Room Tip: Book the Spa Suite for luxury

Hello Tony, thank you for your comprehensive review - it was indeed our pleasure having you stay with us - you are wonderful folk and we so hope you will return soon. We take such pleasure in assisting our guests with their daily outings, where to go, where to eat and what to do, whilst in this beautiful part of the country. Our Spa Suite and Bayview are really huge and comfortable, whilst the Classic is smaller and comfortable but more suited for a short stopover.
This is a perfect place to make your base whilst enjoying all that the North West and ANtrim Coast have to offer - settle in and take day tours to see Giants Causeway, Slieve League Cliffs and Glenveagh National Park - it's all here and close enough to drive each day through the beautiful countryside to a new and wonderful destination. Take care, both of you, and thanx for enriching our lives with your wonderful company. All the best, from Lin and Bobby and the "kids".

We have traveled all over the world and have paid four times the price and not had the quality that we experienced here. Upon arrival you are greeted with freshly baked scones with preserves and cream. yum! The rooms are beautifully appointed with fine linens. A very comfortable bed and wonderful shower really makes the room special. As if that wasn't enough, you will be blown away with Lin's gourmet home cooked breakfasts and wonderful freshly baked breads. There is a lovely lounge, complete with bar where you can watch the beautiful landscape. The house is situated on a beautiful five acre plot. The best things about Moorfield Lodge however is the hostess, Lin. She has a wealth of area information from restaurants to places to visit. Her husband, Bobby, is equally helpful. They are a delightful couple and I doubt you could find a finer B&B in all of Ireland. Our three nights there weren't enough. We will return on our next trip. Thank you Lin & Bobby for a wonderful time.

THank you soooo much for enjoying our hospitality and our home. You are wonderful, easy going folks, and it is always a pleasure to have such special guests to stay - and now "friends"! We can't wait to have you back to share more of your fun personalities. We felt quite deflated when you left, it was like saying goodbye to family. Enjoy the rest of your trip through Ireland, and hope to see you again next year, or sooner God willing!
The sun is shining today, so it's good to know you didn't take it with you - thank you. God Bless and safe travel. all the best from Lin and Bobby.

Myself and my husband stayed in Moorfield Lodge for one night for a work trip, and I just wish it could have been for longer! The accommodation is one of the best I have experienced from most 4 or 5 star hotels, and I have certainly never seen a B&B of this standard before. Lin is a delightful and entertaining host, and made me feel so special and welcome. I was presented with freshly baked scones and coffee on arrival, and the breakfast the next morning was amazing, including home made granola, and home-baked bread.

There are just 3 rooms for B&B which means Lin can keep her quality extremely high; there was nothing we wanted for.

Views from the accommodation were breathtaking, facilities were wonderful, and the welcome & hosting were second to none.

I need to think of an excuse to go back!!!

We are delighted you enjoyed yourselves with us, and so look forward to having you both back again. The Bayview is really big and spacious and ideal for longer stays, along with the Spa Suite which is huge and very special - the Classic is smaller and suitable for 1 or 2 night stays if you don't have heaps of luggage! Hope you enjoyed the "take-away" granola the next day - I am flattered you loved it so much. I love cooking for those who enjoy home made food, and I am a very enthusiastic host - basically I love friendly folk and want to do as much as I can to make their stay the best ever - you are such lovely friendly and easy going people, it makes it easy to please you! TAke care, keep singing and saxaphoning (lol) and see you in the not too distant future I hope. Love from Lin and Bobby.

The Accommodation is the best if you desire quiet, privacy and discretion. The room is very good and the bed is wonderful : it gives you the best sleeping. From the room you can enjoy a great view on the bay and on the big garden. The breakfast is good and it’s served in a very nice and big dining room with a lovely atmosphere. The owner is a nice lady that tries to give you the best service all the time. The location is very good for visiting the Glendalough Park and the beaches on the north.

Thank you for your kind words, we are pleased you had such a good time. Guests can enjoy peace and tranquility here, but at the same time be close to all the activities in the local village just a minute down the road, or 5 minutes into Letterkenny. The best of both world's really, peace and quiet but not too far out! I find many guests mark our score down on "location" which I find really strange, as we have the most beautiful views over the manicured gardens out to Loch Swilly and at night the lights twinkle across the Bay. Sunsets and sunrises at this time of year are spectacular! We hope you will spread the word as we would love some more Venetians to visit us - we love your city too! All the best to both of you.

Although we didn't have much time at the Lodge, Lin was an excellent host. The bed was that comfortable we slept in which would spoil most breakfasts but not this one, still delicious! The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were a particular highlight. Thanks for a lovely stay.
