“Start to finish - brilliant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

From our initial enquiry right through to being dropped off at the airport when we left was superb. We stayed in one of the 3 bedroom villas, which was spotless, beautifully furnished and extremely spacious. Excellent outside and pool area with several lounging and seating options. Breakfast, served in your villa at your requested time was always very good, and if you opt for evening meal to be served in your villa, you certainly have a treat in store. The driver and car available for 9 hours daily is incomparable. Sure, it's best to liaise with front desk to ensure that everyone knows where they are going, but where's the difficulty in that? The driver was always waiting where he said he would meet us after we had visited monuments, or been shopping, etc. etc.
Our free massage was gratefully (and painlessly!) undertaken, our free dinner was deliciously superb, as were meals in Wipa's Kitchen, free wi-fi worked quickly, and best of all, all the staff looked happy!
Rising Sun Residence really should be the first place to check out if you are looking to stay in Phuket.

We were staying at the 1-bedroom villa with 1 big bed and separate living/dining area. There are too many windows around the dining area/room so we are keeping the curtain closed all the time to have some privacy, as each villa is quite close to one another.

The hotel location is in a secluded location, and in an uphill location. So to go out the main street, it will take around 15 ~ 20 minutes walk, and to top up another 5 minutes to walk from the villas to the receptionist, but usually we will just ask the front desk staff to come over to our villa. The hotel does provide 9 hour free transportation + driver everyday, but the traffic in Phuket is quite bad at times, so 9 hours is not really that useful to go to a lot of places.

The hotel is located quite near to some nice resturants, like Tung Ka on top of the hill, Kan Eang beside the sea, and also nearby to the shopping mall Central Festival and also near to some other supermarket like Big C, Tesco Lotus, and other attractions like Wat Chalong and Big Buddha.

The driver sometimes does not speak good English, so the day plan has to be worked out with the front desk in the morning, so the front desk can tell the driver where to go. The driver was really patient as we walked around Phuket. Had him waited for a few hours while we went to the night market, to the shopping mall, and also visiting the temples.

The washroom is big and spacious, with a bathtub and separate shower area, one washbasin.
Some 'Singha' drinking water is also provided as complimentary but it just taste a bit weird. I wish they can provide normal bottled water as complimentary in the room. The WiFi (Internet) is also complimentary in the hotel area, and it is surprisingly fast.

The breakfast is served in the villas, where we can decide on a time and the hotel staff would drop by and prepare the breakfast. The breakfast choice is quite limited for the price we are paying but to provide the transport + driver as complimentary is really nice.

If you have read the previous reviews I am sure you will get the idea of this place. Wipa makes you feel like you are the only visitor there and will orchestrate your every wish. The staff are the best I have seen, polite, punctual and nothing is too much trouble for them.
This is an independently owned complex ran by professionals. If you are a first time visitor to Phuket there can be no better place to stay as they will take you to places that you would never discover on your own. We actually checked out early as I was ill. The staff bent over backwards to help when they realised I was unwell.
The only thing that I thought could be improved on would be a selection of Western food on the room service menu.

Having read all the reviews, we were already assured that we had selected one of the best accommodation on Phuket Island. When I inquired about availability, I was told all the one bedroom villas were booked, but we could have a 3 bedroom villa with a private pool for a great price (about 75% below an online booking site). I didn't realize how lucky we were until we arrived and saw the villa. It was huge and had a large pool which was also very private. I loved being able to jump in my own private pool anytime of the day or night.
The villa was three levels and had large balconies on each level overlooking the pool and with a view of the bay. The 1st floor had a large living-room with separate seating area, office, dining-room, full kitchen which was completely stocked with appliances and dinner-wear, bathroom, and a laundry room with washer.
The second level had two bedrooms each with their own private bathrooms, a large living-room with separate seating area and a complete entertainment system with surround sound and large TV.
Since there were only the two of us and as a condition of the great rate we got on the villa, we didn't have access to the third floor which I was told was another bedroom with bath.
Breakfast was served at the villa each morning at a time of our choosing. The selection was great and there was always enough food to keep us full until afternoon. The large refrigerator was well stocked with soft drinks (at a very reasonable price) and all the free bottled spring water we wanted. Spring water was also provided for our unlimited coffee/tea and in the bathroom for brushing our teeth.
Our bedroom was on the second level. The bedroom had robes, slippers, extra bath and beach towels with a beach bag, laundry basket, extra pillows and blankets. The bathroom was stocked with everything you could ask for from a 5 star hotel.
The villa was spotless and remained that way during our stay.
Our driver was waiting for us when we arrived at the airport and was available anytime we needed him. The car (SUV) was new and more than enough for just the two of us. Our driver was not very fluent in English, but we managed to communicate well enough and he knew his way around the area.
I don't see a need to repeat what has already been said numerous times about the hospitality and service of the owner and staff, other than to mention that it was flawless.
Our thanks to the staff, management and our driver for making this a once in a lifetime vacation.

We have been to Phuket many times and on a yearly basis and stayed in 5 star resort all the time. Did some research on the trip advisor website and learnt that a lot of guests gave very good rating for RSR. Decided to give it a try and we booked a 1 bedroom apartment and stayed from 27 Oct 2012 to 30 Oct 2012. We were greeted by our driver, Sukan at the airport upon arrival. When we arrived at RSR it was almost 10pm and Wipa the owner was already there waiting for us and showed us to the apartment. The check in process was also smooth. The bedroom and bathroom are huge in size. We were given a menu to choose for our breakfast and it was served the next morning in the apartment. Wipa and Meethe visited us whilst we were having our breakfast and at the same time have a little chat and helped us to plan our itinerary. We were impressed as they showed lots of passion in running this business. Sukan was with us for the few days and he was very attentive and patient. When we stepped out of the shopping centres, he was already there waiting for us, We signed up for the cooking class and visited the wet market with Wipa and it was a real eye opener. We wanted to learnt how to cook another Thai dishes which was our favourite, Wipa and Chef Teh were very accomodating and obliged to our request. A big Thank You to both of them for the wonderful meal. Wipa highly recommended Tunka Restaurant up in the hill in Phuket Town and we were glad that we went as the dishes were all very well cooked, presented and delicious. The prices are reasonable too. We would have gone there daily if we were to stay longer. Overall, we felt that this is a really nice place to stay if you want to de-stress and rejuvenate. It is unlike any commercialized hotel but a great place to stay with good services warm hospitality and also lots of privacy . We will surely return and stay in RSR in the near future. Thumbs up to the RSR team and especially to Wipa and Methee for making our vacation so memorable.

It has been a long time since I experience true blue Thai hospitality. Everyone we met in Rising Sun is genuinely friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.
My kids love the pool.
Khun Wipa's recommendation to visit Old Phuket Town was a really good one. Remember to bring along your camera.
Dinner at Kan Eang @ Pier was so good.
Great for family and couples.

Both of us being over 65 and English with considerable travel experience found the Rising Sun Residence better than a lot of five star hotels. We were greeted at the airport by a driver who proved not only to be very friendly and very helpful and always turn up on time when we asked him to during the week that we were there. The breakfasts were excellent and served in our bungalow along with the free massage. The Residence recommended restaurants and even went as far as to recommend what to order, arriving at a restaurant we were given a table with a nice view and a 10% discount, try getting that from a five star hotel. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and our one-bedroom bungalow by the pool was delightful and contain everything anybody could wish for including an excellent fresh coffee and machine to make it with. After four days I became so relaxed as we where being looked after so well.
The only drawback seems that nobody seems to dislike The Rising Sun Residence which can only mean it will get more popular

Room Tip: Don't be frightened to ask the staff where to go and what to do and where to eat
