Besides beach, booze, food and nightlife, this is one of the must visit places in Phuket. The view from the hill is beautiful.

Beautiful place with great view points and monkeys around :) We have looked for every option to get there, but the cheapest way for us was to take PRIVATE TAXI from this kindly guy. 20km way with 2 person and big backpacks in new Honda car for only 500 THB. Mr. Supparerk (nan) Matchawet MOBILE: 086-8382362 We were so happy because very kindly service door to door! Recommended!

This place seems to be for marketing and merchandise place instead of the place for Buddhism to pray.
However the place has nice view look over to the Chalong bay

The pictures do this no justice. It is an amazing statue with a great view. There is even a place to take pictures of the wild monkeys. A must see if you are in Phuket Thailand.

When transiting from the Phuket International airport to our hotel it was hard not to notice the Big Budda perched high above the landscape.

When we visited the buddist monks, donned in their orange robes, were holding a ceremony. The ceremony reverent yet uplifting.

The views from the Big Budda were breathtaking. We were told the constuction of Big Budda started following the devastation of a sunami which hit Phuket. A protector of the people and their homes against any potential future harm.

Off to one side of the courtyard you could buy a white marble tile, sign your name/s to it, and return it to the seller so it may be layed in the continuing construction of the Big Biudda. I was touched that our tile was earmarked for positioning inside Budda.

This not yet completed statue is a must for a Phuket island day tour. There is also a gorgeous view about beaches, neighbor islands and Phuket town. TOP!

Took a Taxi from Kata to the Big Buddha.

It is free to enter but you will need 20 bhat to hire a shawl to cover up if you have bare shoulders.

The Buddha at the top the hill is amazing and to think how they built it. It is still under construction but you have to appreciate the religion (not follow it) to understand that this is not just a a stone statue. Very peaceful and respectful and at the rear they were feeding the poor for free.

A donation no matter how small helps with the running of the center.

The souvenirs were on the expensive side.

Great views and plenty of photo opportunities and we enjoyed the visit, for us well worth it.

Enjoyed our visit to the Big Buddha, we rented a scooter so it made the route up the hill very easy. The views from the top are great and they have a free lunch buffet which was excellent (all they ask for is a small donation).
