I have just completed my open water certification with Kevin and found him to be the ultimate professional. Anyone who would like to learn to dive Kiwi Diver is the place to start your adventure. I will be returning in November to complete my advanced open water and am really looking forward to it.

I booked with Kiwidiver to do my advanced open water course, there service was excellent everything was straightforward. Owen my instructor made everything very easy to understand and I didn't feel any pressure at all completing tasks. I would highly recommend doing scuba diving with Kiwidiver.

Thailand is known for their amazing dive sites and marine encounters.
It's easy for many companies to jump on the bandwagon and produce factory-like diving experiences.

But not kiwi divers! Kevin Black, owner and dive master/instructor,
makes it a point to provide a comfortable, meaningful experience
amidst all the port chaos. His experience and knowledge is far and wide, so he is also a great resource to ask about other diving
destinations. He made the trip to Ko Phi Phi memorable. We swam among countless schools of fish, and Kevin helped point out unique fish and other marine creatures along the way. He checked on us often to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our time.

We are definitely motivated to return to dive the Similans!

Recently I completed my Padi open water cert with Kiwidiver in Phuket.
Kevin had been recommended to me so I sent him an email. I received a quick reply from Nad who runs the office and shop, soon after Kevin rang which was nice I felt immediately that I was dealing with a professional company that appreciated my business. Kevin put a package together to suit my time frame etc. Unfortunately Kevin was unable to complete my training as he had a heavy head cold, but wasn’t a problem as Kevin has a small group of other instructors he uses and arranged Mick Jennings to be my personal instructor. Mick was great he is extremely experienced with over 8 years in Thailand. He spent a lot of time going over the theory and areas I needed to concentrate on. Mick made me totally relaxed as I was a little nervous of this underwater world I was about to enter into. The training was great fun and had plenty of laughs with the whole crew. I think what sets Kiwidiver apart from other dive schools is the personal service, every morning I was picked up by Kevin and dropped off at the end of the day after much needed liquid refreshment supplied at the school. On my last day Kevin even took an hour out of his day to show me the big Buddha which was well worth seeing. It is so rare these days to actually receive more than you paid for but with Kiwidiver all the little extras that made the course so pleasant and no stress were just part of what they do. I have no hesitation in recommending kiwidiver and any of their instructors.

I was under the impression that I was on a day as they advertised where they go to on certain days of the week. I was not clear that several diving companies will consolidate and rent space on a boat. Needless to say...I had a terrible experience in Patong with getting drugged, bashed, thrown in a prison cell and extorted USD$1300 from 2 locals and the police(see review on Adonis B&B.) I missed my diving day with Kevin Black, the owner, due to being robbed and in prison....and this was the response I got from him, this is direct from his email:

"This would include contacting Phuket Airport immigration which can stop you at passport control for trying to leave Phuket without settling outstanding accounts. This is common practice for hotels and tourist business’s. You will be held at the airport until payment is settled and may incur a customs fine. You may also miss your flight and have to rebook another flight.

If you do not leave via Phuket airport I will pass the debt to a recovery company back in New Zealand and they will recover the debt and associated fees (which will probably work out greater than the debt."

this was over a USD$100 fee for my place on the not previously mentioned rental of a 3rd party boat.

Lesson learned...do your research and maybe some travel insurance. Would not use Kiwidiver nor recommend for this lack of compassion. I am sure he could have worked out a deal with this boat he uses time and time again.

If you book several days diving then go out drinking at nightclubs the night before diving, get drunk and end up being arrested for fighting you can expect to pay for the booked diving when you don’t show up for the boat.

The police released this gentleman after they determined he was sober enough to no longer be a hazard and after he had paid a fine and for the damages he had caused. Unfortunately it was 3pm by this time and he had missed his hotel pick up at 7:30 am that morning. His injuries from the night on the town prevented him from diving for the rest of his stay.

We only charged him for our out of pocket costs (about a third of his booking) yet somehow he felt we should pay this for him. The quoted email response is of course only part of an email conversation and is completely out of context. It was a reply to his statement that he would not be paying anything for our costs.

We do understand that he had a bad experience on his night out drinking but don’t understand why he would expect us to cover the cost. It is customers like this that have caused us to insist on deposits for all bookings. If you want to dive with Kiwidver then drink responsibly or don’t drink at all.
