“Highlight of the trip”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

My boyfriend is an avid lover of elephants, so when planning our trip to Phuket I knew we had to venture on at least one elephant trekking tour. Siam Safari did not disappoint. I had previously heard good things from family and friends who had been to Siam Safari before, so we booked the tour with our travel agent before we left. We went on the 4 in 1 tour which included a trip on a traditional wooden junk from Chalong.

We were picked up promptly from our hotel in a very cool safari type truck at 8am, and made our bumpy way up some steep roads where we reached Siam Safari. Firstly we had our elephant trekking experience, which was by far the highlight. Riding on an elephant with our mahout on the trail was just so memorable, especially looking out from the view point out to the water. After this we were able to have photos with the elephants and feed them fruit that came in baskets for 100 baht.We then watched the young elephants in the training centre, performing tricks and painting, it's hard not to love them!

We were then shown through the other exhibitions including rubber trees, authentic Thai curry, coconut harvesting, Thai coffee and coconut pancakes and rice, including a ride on a water buffalo. These were all really enjoyable and I loved the samples of curry and coconut!
We then headed down to the pier on the safari truck for our lunch and trip on the junk. It was quite unfortunate that the weather was so miserable at this point, it made it difficult to get photos of the passing islands and fully take it in.

However, that is of no fault of Siam Safari, and it was still a very enjoyable day! All up the tour latest around 6 hours from being picked up and dropped off, and it was worth every penny. Also I loved our tour guide named Apple, she was super enthusiastic and happy to answer any questions!

“Excellent Trip - shame about the show”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

We organised a 45minute Elephant Trek with pick-up from our Villa.
The whole thing went very well and the Trek was excellent.
I think that I would only pay for the 30minute Trek, if I had my time over, because the route was almost identical for 30 and 45 minutes and I think the extra 15 minutes was really only about 5.
The Show you get consists of 2 Elephants holding a Football in its Trunk and kicking it. There is a "talk" which is quite informative.
They say the Elephants can "paint" but in reality the Keeper paints up and down, while the Elephant's trunk is holding the Brush and then the Elephant just removes the Brush across the Paper.
Overall though, well worth the cost of the trip.

Dear kingcol55,

Thank you for reviewing your experience with Siam Safari. We were glad to read that you were overall satisfied with the tour.

We were sorry to hear that according to your description the trekking time wasn’t complete and have discussed with the mahouts to improve the accuracy. At our Elephant Camp we have two trekking routes, one for a 30-minute trek and one for a 45-minute trek. Both of the routes pass a scenic view point with beautiful views over Chalong Bay, after which they separate. Our mahouts are encouraged to let the elephants make their way through the trek with their own pace and some elephants may also stop to eat for a short while, which is part of their natural behavior.

We acknowledge your feedback and comments about the Young Elephant Training Center and appreciate them. We would like to let you know that we are working on improving the Young Elephant Training Center. We are looking forward to introduce the improved program shortly, and hope to be able to welcome you to see it when you are visiting Phuket next time.

Best regards,

Siam Safari Nature Tours Co., Ltd

“Great for families and also fun for everyone .”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

We were picked up at our hotel in Phuket. On arrival you are greeted by a guide. The tour around Siam was just magical as the elephants are so smart. They can wave hello with their trunks, paint and play ball. There is an elephant show. The Mahuts are very attached to their elephant and the elephants are very well looked after. We had a one hour ride and the view was amazing. Truly an amazing day and I highly recommend this tour.

My sister and I had a lovely trip! We got picked up at our hostel in Phuket town as well as drown back afterwards. The tour around Siam Safari is interesting and knowledgable. We had one of the longer tours with a lot of information about the different products, an elephant show, a tour on the elephant and lunch. It has all been very inspiring although everything happened a little fast and the guide sometimes was a little difficult to understand. But they were all very nice and helpful, and I would definitely recommend others too take on this tour as well.

Thank Kristine P

“Enjoyable for all ages”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

Two adults and a teenage son visited in early July of 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The elephants are incredibly intelligent and are even able to paint! The elephants seem very happy and well looked after. The mahuts also seem to be very attached to the elephants. Overall it was fantastic and I highly recommend it.
