“Lost it's edge”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2012

This fish and chip cafe used to be really great. It seems to have lost it's edge a little recently. The setting is fantastic with views over the bay. Portions are smaller than they used to be and you may well find the prices are quite high for what you get. They serve coffee and beer and a number of salads and starters. The toilets are clean.

“A very enjoyable meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

We visited this shop a few days ago - in spite of the numerous bad comments on Trip Advisor we found the meals very nice - my Mum had shrimps - they were fresh and chilled nicely just the way you like them - we then had fish and chips - the chips were beautiful - nice and crisp and not soggy at all - the snapper were very nice - the restaurant is sitting over the water and there is a lovely view across the harbour

“Yum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2012

Sorry I disagree with most of the other folk who reviewed here - it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. They could teach a few people how to do it in the UK. I am not a keen fish eater but would go back there tomorrow. Yes the portions weren't huge but filling nevertheless and we didn't think the price was bad but then we didn't have any extras.

“Overrated.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2012

$6.70 for a tiny tiny bit of battered fish that was faaar too soggy, dissapointing. Tartare and tomato sauce, $1.50 each. Chips were pretty good to be fair.

Also, how do they charge $8.50 for a Heineken. Are you actually kidding me? Central Auckland bars don't even sell a bottle of Heineken for that price.

I don't mind paying a bit extra for good quality food but that tiny fish was overpriced and rubbish.

“Stupid prices”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2012

I've eaten here prob 15 times the last couple years and I've had about enough of the prices here. Yes it's tacky they charge extra for ketchup and tartar. Yes they have pretty good fish and chips and I don't even like fish and chips most places. Yes they have great fried scallops, although this last time they weren't as good. Yes the people that work here aren't really that friendly, it's hit or miss. Yes I'll prob go back again but then again most stuff in New Zealand is a terrible value as the currency is so bloated so I just accept the rip off. I would of loved to try this place 10 years ago. The scenery around the chip shop is very nice on a good day.
