We visited Glendalough on Sunday evening last. The visitor centre was closed but we really enjoyed our walk around the round tower and then along the amazing board walk to the upper lake. It is a lovely place for a walk after the bus loads of visitors have left. It is probably not so peaceful during the day when the visitor centre is open.

This was the first stop on our drive around Ireland - couldn't ask for a better place to start.

Visitor centre staff was so friendly, took time to provide and overview and point us to key sights as we didn't have time for a full tour.

Absolutely loved & could have stayed longer.

Monastic Settlement is not very interesting, however walk around the lake is perfect. Views are amazing.

This settlement is a must-see if you're out near Wicklow. You have a great view of the Wicklow mountains, and the gravestones and remains of the monastic settlement are absolutely beautiful. You can also take a short walk down to the vale of Glendalough which is one of the most beautiful sites I saw in all of Ireland.
