my father and i stayed here via keycamp in late august to early september 2012, we were located in a quiet spot, restaurant - faultless, we did the 4 hour around trip to magny cours during our stay and did a return trip to futurescope. Only low point - no souvenir car stickers left in stock at reception when i asked.

The title sums up this site. We booked direct with the site the most expensive 3 bed 2 bath mobile home for our family of 6. Check in was great - but how hard can that be. The welcome guide we were given turned out to be a pack of lies - a real worry when you think that you base your whole long awaited summer holiday around this. We arrived on the 24th August and left on the 2nd September. The parc clearly advertised it closed on the 6th September, so no problem we thought - wrong. Even when we arrived the whole place seemed to be on wind down, the shop had barely any stock, the bar had stopped doing cocktails as they had hardly any spirits left, maintenance were going round collecting all the bbqs up. The site really has great potential but it was let down by the staff and its insistence on closing early. We dared to go to the restaurant one night only to be greeted by the waitress who refused to allow us to push two tables together outside despite there being absolutely no one else there or any tables being reserved - laughable. As an incentive for good behaviour we promised our children they could go on the pony rides and the adventure trail on Sunday 1st September which was our last full day on site, the welcome guide clearly stated that these services operated in low season (September) on a weekend only. In our country Sunday is a weekend but clearly not in France, we went to reception to pay and were told "ferme" finished end of August. A heated discussion took place which resulted in the reception staff clearly not giving a damn about anything other than themselves. Our children were very upset. Learning from our mistake at actually believing what we had been given in writing we decided we would not fall foul of it again and would plan ahead for dinner specifically asking if the pizzeria was open for take away that night - yes they said without hesitation. We arrived at the pizzeria at 6 to find a sign saying it was closed for the season now. A visit to reception to discuss was met again with the same dis-interest. Having little choice of anywhere else to eat as the local villages are deserted and dull and after a poor experience at the on site restaurant as already mentioned we only had the option of the take away. We arrived there at 7 with our containers only to be told they had no lasagne, no frites (which was the only good thing they served by the way). Again no apology from any staff. All this really spoilt the end of our holiday which is why I would give it minus points if possible, if the information we had been given had been correct then this could have been avoided but as it was'nt and the staff did not care less therefore they do not deserve to be paid 900 euros for 9 nights holiday. I have complained to the Les Castels chain and they are not bothered either. The place needs a serious spruce up and regular maintenance as everything was tired. The play park needs improving. The beach needs weeding and some more sand. The staff need some customer service training. The bar needs to open earlier than 1pm. The owner needs to acknowledge this and do something about it, but I cannot see that happening to be honest.
We went to les alicourts last year which is about 40 minutes to the east and I wish we had gone there again.

I booked to stay here before I read the reviews which don't (in my opinion) do justice to the site.
We had a fantastic week, the staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was seamless, the pitch was huge and nicely spaced from other caravans. a little overgrown in the corners, but this is central France not Sandringham!!
The pool was cold but otherwise clean. Some work could be done to fix some broken paving but otherwise it was fine. Not sure the lifeguard was paying much attention but he did address some more boisterous guys on the slides.
The lake is green but not algae covered and we saw people happily swimming in it. There are also a couple of pedal boats to try out.
The bar area was a good size, plenty of ice cream for the kids, the beer was a bit pricey but the happy hour was better value.
The kids disco was a great hit with our two children, aged 5 and 6 and they enjoyed the electric cars and arcade,. The evening entertainment was pretty cheesy but the staff had obviously worked hard to put it together.
Overall, we had a great week, had very little to grumble about and the kids smiled every day.
What more do you need?

Stayed in a wooden cottage (grand comfort!) for a week in August with out two sons. On the plus side the cottage was in a nice quiet location by the lake. Lots of shade/little sun. The lake is nice and it made a nice change from the hectic outdoor pool area to be able to swim in the lake (to a floating platform) or to relax on the small 'beach' area by the indoor pool (at the side of the lake). There are quite a few activities on site.

However, the cottage was filthy when we arrived - dirt, dust and dead insects everywhere including over the beds. They did send a cleaner when we asked but we had to ask her to stay and clean it properly. No duvets just 'skanky' blankets. TV in cottage did not work for the first three days (a technical problem!) and broken light bulbs on arrival. Overall the site was relaly needing some money spent on it - it was tired and the pool areas not that clean and in poor repair. Although there was a staff member supervising the main outdoor pools they were very light touch and lots of older lads/men doing dangerous bombing down onto people below spoiling it for others.

Site is a bit far from places of interest although there are some beautiful Loire towns/Chateaus within 30-45 minutes drive and we spent a fantastic day at Futuroscope (about 40minutes away).

Site could be good but need to up their game.

After reading some bad reviews of this site i felt i had to address some of the comments made. Just back yesterday from a week staying in a static booked directly from the site. The static was clean and comfortable (all except the beds which were hard). The pitch was a good size and the site was clean with loads for the kids to do. I didnt use the facilities for tourers so cant comment on those. The pools ( indoor and outdoor) were clean and well maintained but could do with a few more loungers around them. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The static pitches were in the shade which wasnt ideal but some people prefer that. The site is huge and the hedges could have done with a trim etc but thats all. The lake is a lake. The water is green but no algae and people were happily swimming in it. The food onsite was expensive but I noticed an increase off site as well based on previous years visits to france. Overall maybe there could have been an extra gardener or 2 employed but its a great family site. Oh, and the wifi was ok but if you buy a pass it is only for one device.

I dont want to sound too negative because we really enjoyed our two week holiday at this site. The wifi is cheap and there is a good connection in the pitches and there are lots of free activities like waterpolo, football, archery and tennis (at most other sites archery and tennis have to be payed for). The waterslides are fun and the arcade machines in the bar are great fun. It also seemed quite good for small kids as there was a kids club and disco every evening. However, that is really where the good things about this campsite compared to others stops.

Firstly, the swimming pool is freezing and really put us off using it (something we normally spend hours doing). This turned swimming into more of a chore than an activity and this isnt what it really should be like.
The pool also seemed dangerous for small kids as there are rocks dotted throughout which little kids leap from into the water and from one to another. They all seemed to be having great fun doing it but im not sure I would want my child jumping in from one rock one the next is less than a metre away.
The lifeguard seemed to be of little use (if he was even there) as at one point I saw him playing a game on his phone.
The pool was also a funny shape and due to all these rocks and teenagers bombing off the edge at every angle, it was impossible to actually swim in it.

The lake and beach also seemed a little worse for wear and none of us went into the lake as it was a bright green colour. There were people swimming in it but i really didnt fancy it.

The bar was also a bit of a dissapointment as there was only ever 1 or 2 people working there and so there was a huge queue and the beer was very expensive. At times, the staff decided that they werent going to serve certain items (cocktails) and when they did they were disgusting and served in a plastic beer cup.
It didnt open till 1 and so we couldnt pop down for lunch or a morning coffee which would have been nice. The staff also seemed very keen on kicking you out at 11 by closing the doors and clearing your tables which was a bit annoying.
The entertainment was also a disappointment as it mostly involved karaoke and silly games like pictionary which didnt really take our fancy.

Another thing which was really quite annoying was the amount of times that the electricity went off while we were there (about 10 in 2 weeks) because it meant that the 24h hour wifi we had paid for only really meant 20. it also turned off our fridge which contained milk, chicken etc.

We were also disappointed with the local area as it seemed impossible to buy any food outside of lunch time. At 3 o'clock we would order a waffle or sandwhich and the cafe would say 'no food.' Everything also seemed to be 'ferme' and all the towns seemed dead apart from a few really touristy ones a good hour way from the campsite. The chateaux were nice but all the same really.

Finally, there just seemed to be a lack of things to do (especially for teenagers). My 15 year old daughter played tennis a few times and did the archery and water polo once but apart from the pool there seemed to be little else she could do aside from nothing. There was no park suiutable for her age group or way of meeting anyone else (it was lucky that we had come with another family who also had a 15 year old daughter.)

Overall, we enjoyed the holiday but out of all the campsites in france we have visited in the last 14 years, this was probably the worst

Room Tip: get a caravan that's on in the shade because it was freezing even when it was 30C especially in...

Really good site, lots of free activities, great swimming pool, huge pitch, well stocked shop, staff friendly, and lake a little green but kids loved it.Only negative points would be toilets need cleaning more often and a older childs play area needed. We are an active family with girls aged 13 and 11.
